Hi Lowrider, Thank you for the inquiry about the Kidde Code 1-Battery Operated Carbon Monoxide Detector (36 Pack). The prices of items are subject to many factors including a national average set by our corporate office along with collaboration from our manufacturers and vendors, who take into account processing and shipping items in bulk. Other considerations are where the merchandise is being sold, the type of materials, color and labor used to create the product. Appears to be a great value. I can't say how good it works yet because you can't smell or see carbon monoxide. If I'm still alive in 10 years it's either because it worked or I haven't had a carbon monoxide leak in my house. I did buy 2 of them because I wanted something to protect my family and I don't have a lot of money. I also bought 6 smoke detectors because out of every place I checked Home Depot had the best price easily. I think that they might be doing this on purpose to help keep people safe. Thank you Home Depot.

I’m so happy I bought this. I’m 60 years old and I’ve never had a carbon monoxide detector ever. Now I don’t have to worry about the deadly gas coming into my house killing me my pets and family. I only got this because the mortgage company made me. I don’t know how over the last 60 years I could of slept in this house without one. I know Greta Thunberg would be so proud of me. Now I can prance around my house safely and happy while listening to The Osmond Family album.

Unit works as required by city ordinance but the batteries outlasted the CO sensor inside. The projected life is 7 years but all of mine failed in about 6 years. The new ones are good for 10 years. Wonder why the manufacturer doesn't supply a plug-in CO sensor instead of making you throw the entire unit out, Could be expensive and labor intensive if you have many apts.

Hello. The price of the sensor is a large portion of the cost of the alarm itself. Making the sensor reliably replaceable would increase the cost of the alarm and the replaceable sensor might cost almost as much as a new alarm.
Easy to activate and hang on the wall.

We purchased two of these detectors. We have a new house that has interconnected smoke detectors, but when I read about them it did not say they detected carbon monoxide. We have an attached garage, a gas fireplace and a gas furnace. Carbon monoxide could come from any of these. We would rather be safe than sorry. This detector is relatively inexpensive and easy to install. I would recommend it to anyone.

Easy to install. My previous Kidde CO alarm expired exactly 7 years to the manufacturing date. It's nice that the newer version comes with batteries and less for 10 years now.
