Hello Teech, California requires sealed in lithium batteries, so these are not in compliance. You can find this information on: https://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/fire-safety/fire-safety-laws/

Don't use this detector. It's a battery-operated single station unit that cannot be connected into a multi-station system.

I just bought these 9 months ago. Today, I walked into my house and the alarm was going off. Worried, holding my baby, I immediately left my house and called the fire department. These detectors or "defectors" are old and from 2014! I definitely didn't get my money's worth out of them. Extremely disappointed!

Bought enough to replace all of the outdated ones in the house. They are smaller in diameter and more flush to the ceiling. These smaller detectors will expose at least one of the mounting holes from our previous larger ones. We planned on repainting to fix the holes.

I’ve only had these for about a month I think. Luckily I haven’t had a fire in my house (knock on wood), so these haven’t been tested fully. There was one night when I was cooking something and one of the alarms went off. While I was cooking, I didn’t notice any smoke, so it’s a good sign the alarm sounded. It lets me know that it’s sensitive enough to catch a serious fire. Just from that, I have a good feeling about these. They were really easy to install and I’m a short/small 21 year old female. I feel much safer now that I have these.
