by|Jan 26, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Hello. No. You will want the KN-COPE-IC model 21029888 for that or if you want a model with a 10 year battery, you will want the I12010S model 21029878.

Q:Hats a good replacement for a usi 1204 model smoke detector? Just want to replace covers
    by|Jan 25, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Not exactly. Our alarms don't work with USI alarms. You would have to take down all of the old alarms before putting up any new alarms and you would have to change out and rewire the wiring harness plugs and change out the mounting brackets.

Q:Why is my smoke detector flashing red every 10 seconds or so and. Ot making any noise
      by|Jan 24, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello. 1 red flicker every 30 seconds to a minute is normal operations of the alarm and the alarm in standby mode. 1 long red light every 10 seconds is the HUSH mode. It means the test button was pushed and the alarm is slightly less sensitive to smoke for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, it should go back to standby mode and a red flicker every 30 seconds to a minute. Call us while with the alarm at 1-800-880-6788 if you need further information.

Q:With what do I replace my Firex 120-1282 smoke detector?
        by|Jan 19, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hello. There is no direct replacement for your alarms. That being said, you can use any of our current alarms to replace your older alarms. You will have to take down all of the older alarms before putting up any new alarms. You will have to change out the mounting brackets at each location but that will just take a screwdriver to change out. You will either have to change out and rewire the wiring harness plugs at each location or you can choose to use the KA-F2 adaptors to adapt the old plugs to our new alarms. The adaptors would plug into the old plugs and the new alarms would plug into the adaptors. The model for the adaptor pack is the 21028461 which includes the KA-F2 and the KA-B2 for some of the older BRK/First Alert plugs.

          No problems…E-Z maintenance
We have four of these hardwired throughout our home. When we test them, they all activate properly and are very easy to shut down and go back to normal. They may not need it, but we do put new batteries in them every time we change our clocks, we figure that way there is no opportunity for a battery to go low and we just feel safer that way. We did have a house fire three years ago and again, they worked absolutely perfectly. Everybody was out and no problems and we were very thankful that we installed them when we remodeled our home.

Installed 2 and one BAD ALREADY
Bought this unit March 5th 2021 in a two pack. Install the one right away, still functioning perfectly. The other just woke me up at 6:00 a.m. this morning. Three beeps, then stops, then three beeps. Tried resetting unit, no joy. Removed unit from Mount, reset, changed battery twice. No joy. Understand unit has 5-year warranty? Can you please replace?

Response from Kidde Product SupportApr 26, 2022
Hello. If you have interconnected alarms, the first step is finding the initiating unit, as that is the key to stopping all of the interconnected units from sounding: To find the initiating unit, look for one that is flashing RED or GREEN at least once every second while in alarm mode, then follow the reset procedure on that unit. If the alarm stopped on its own before you could find that flashing light, the initiating unit will flash for 1.5 seconds every 10 seconds. If there are no obvious signs of a fire, the alarm should be cleaned before being reinstalled. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, after disconnecting the alarm and removing any removable battery: hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you. It is also possible that some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manual. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms.

              Easy to install
After moving into our new place we needed to replace all the smoke detectors in the house they were originals from 1997. The four pack of smoke detectors was easy to install. After switching off the power, the only tool you will need is a Phillips head screw driver to remove the exisiting hard wired smoke detectors. It took about 3 minutes per smoke detector to switch them out. It was very easy.

                Easy peasy
We had 7 of these that were 16 1/2 years in our house, (Out dated) The new alarms came with everything needed to retrofit the older alarms. Each one took 3-4 minutes to switch out. As of now all is great.

                  JUNK ALARM!!! BEWARE!!!
We have 6 of these hardwired in our home. They go off in the middle of the night scaring our family to death! My youngest son runs into our room crying because he thinks the house is on fire. We’ve replaced the batteries, even though they weren’t chirping. Then we’ve blown them out. Luckily, I found the one that was faulty because it started going off while it was in my hand. I just left it unplugged and took the battery out. Not a very safe thing to do, in case there’s a real fire! Also, It’s not a fun thing to do from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM when I have to be at work at 5:00 AM. Very upset about this crap. It’s not the first time this has happened!

The Kidde Firex Hardwired Smoke Detectors were very easy to install and wire. The great thing about them is the Ionization Sensor, and that they also have a 9-Volt Battery Backup in case you loose power. The price was perfect and because they came in a 4-Pack, I was able to replace 3 which I had in my home along with allowing me to add another in my laundry room. I find the KIDDE brand to be perfect for any home. Along with the smoke detector's I have also installed the KIDDE Carbon Monoxide / Smoke Detector combos in my kitchen and garage.
