A:  Hello. No, because the dust covers will keep the alarms from being able to detect smoke. They are meant to be temporary covers during construction or other times when a lot of dust is being brought up. They keep out the dust by keeping everything out, including the smoke.

    A:  Yes. These covers will stop an alarm from going off. These are only meant to be kept on the alarm during painting or construction or renovation of a residence or any event where a lot of dust and debris will be in the air. They are only meant to temporarily protect the alarm and are meant to be removed when the air has cleared and any time a person is in residence and living in the residence.

      A:  Hello Allan, Thanks for reaching out. These are covers for the face of the alarm that protect the alarm from contamination when there is painting or sanding in the vicinity. These are covers, not alarms. They have no ability to sense smoke.

            I ordered these to prevent the monitored fire alarm from being activated when I used a thermal propane fogger with an oil based insecticide. This puts out a "smoke" fogger that lingers inside a home for several hours. Using these smoke detector covers prevented a smoke detector alarm from being sent to the alarm monitoring company. These covers worked very well and the price was extremely fair. Easy to put on and take off, and I will be able to use again as no damage or tears since the plastic is adequately thick enough, and the elastic quality is adequate also. Works exactly as intended and I would purchase again without hesitation. I highly recommend.
