Q:How do you control heat ? And how hot can this get ? Does it have fan for temp control

Answer This Question

A:  You control the heat by limiting air entrance into the BBQ. I don;t know how hot this can get but i use it to add flavor, not temperature. For heat I use Royal Oak 100% wood charcoal.

    A:  Mesquite wood chips are made for flavoring meat. You add them to charcoal to create smoke and flavor or you can put them in a smoker for added flavor. These aren’t necessarily meant for using as fuel only.

          A:  Any wood chips or chunks are not treated with any chemicals, I would make a foil pouch about 8" square, then soak chips in water for about 30 min.,fold foil then make 3 slits for the smoke to escape. Place chip pouch over burner to smoke. Try all kinds. I love pecan,peach,cherry!

                  A:  These are added to whatever you are using for your fire to add smoke flavoring. You do not use these for your fire source.

                  A:  That's what I use if I'm putting them in a fire pit. Otherwise you can use charcoal fluid and them soak for about 5 minutes before lighting

                      A:  You do not light the wood chips on fire. You use charcoal for your main fire in your grill when using these chips. 1st Light the charcoal as you usual do and let it burn until the coals are grey all over. While the coals are heating up soak the wood chips in very hot water for 20 - 30 minutes. Next make and place a foil boat on the left and right side of your grill on top of the hot coals when you are ready to start grilling. Then drain the water off of your wood chips and place them on the foil boats.They will smoke your food slowly while it is being cooked by the charcoal. I usually use 1/2 a bag of these each time I grill, I mix Apple and Mesquite for a great Smokey combination.

                        A:  Thank you for your question. It depends if you have a charcoal or gas grill. For a charcoal grill, use paper or starter fluid. For a gas grill, soak the chips and put in a smoker tray or wrap in heavy duty aluminum foil. Please see the packaging for complete instructions.

I have a small smoker and you don't need many for chicken, I found out. the next day I did a port chop and only used half a handful. I am learning and it seems that chicken thighs only need half a handful but pork chops could use a handful. The mesquite chips make a great flavor.
