how do you use these in a gas fired BBQ?

AnswersIn a gas fired grill, they have to set pretty much on the fire to get them to smoke. These large chunks are meant for charcoal grilling or smoking. Before i had my smoker, i used the smaller different brand chips and would drop them on the coals and try to shut most of the air off to keep them from sparking into a blaze. Kept a water spray bottle handy to cover it when needed.

Bought this to smoke a pork shoulder for New Year’s Eve. Added great flavor, you could taste a hint of cherry in the pork. I soaked them overnight but they still burned pretty quickly, maybe I’ll soak them longer for a better smoke next time.

I have been using apple wood chunks for over 15 years. I love the smell it gives off while cooking. It adds just the right amount of smoke (light but robust) with a sweet aromatic undertone. This product more than met my expectations and the price was great as well for that size bag!!! I'm a user for life!! #addictedtoapplechunks

I used these to smoke a pork roast today. I usually like to use whole tree limbs in my offset smoker, but I was out and had to use chips instead. I followed the directions by setting them in water for 15 minutes before putting them onto the coals. After 6-hours and around 4-5 applications of chips, the pork roast came out with a nice bark that was sweet from the cherry, with a good smoke aroma and salty from the ham. The whole roast has a nice aroma and tastes great.
