Is this studf ok in pool water when i clean the copping epoxy

Asked by: Alex
The manufacturer cautions against contact with skin and eyes. No one will ever tell you that it is okay to let this product, mixed with liquified epoxy sludge, to drop into your pool water. I would suggest applying heavy duty masking just under the coping to catch the debris as it is scraped off the pool coping. It can then be safely discarded.

Can this be used to remove epoxy paint from a fiberglass pool?
Asked by: Clarisse
I personally would not recommend this product on fiberglass. My experience with my fiberglass pool(over 20 years in-ground pool)was that the fiberglass became porous and started to leak.I think you might hasten the deteration of the fiberglass.

The Klean-Strip Premium Stripper is a powerful stripper, however, it is not as good as the previous product which had MEK as a component. It does remove multiple layers of paint, both latex and oil-based paints, polyurethane, epoxy, varnish and shellac. It should be noted that it takes much longer for this premium stripper to soften the surface coating than the previous formulation did. I noticed that it took about twice as long to soften a hard polyurethane coat prior to its being removed. A word of warning is required when working with this product in that it is caustic and requires the user to use gloves and a facemask and respirator are recommended in close spaces. The premium stripper worked well on multi layer polyurethane coated hardwood and on oil and water based paints. I rate it a 4 based on the slowness compared to earlier formulations. Considering that the previous formulations are not available, this is probably the best available.

Not as toxic as some, not as safe as the really green strippers, but it removed two to three coats of paint from an old floor, as I had hoped. An approximately 10' x 10' area. I used three gallons total—about a gallon and a half for the first attempt, applying it liberally, then the rest for two more thinner coats to get everything off. Would purchase again.

With changes in regulations the previously most common stripper (methylene chloride) is no longer available, so it's a fact of life that we all need to find a new product to use. It's much like the switch from high VOC paints to safer water based solutions. This new product works adequately well but you have to expect it won't be quite as effective or quite as fast. It still does a solid job and if you've never used earlier products you'll probably not even notice the difference. Apply, let it do it's thing over time, and scrap with a plastic scraper. Repeat as needed.

I used this stuff on old wooden window frames on an old house and these frames had several coats of paint inside and out. It brushes easily and i chose to use a two inch brush with short bristles for the job at hand. In my opinion, it seemed to work a bit faster than other products and after it was well blistered, I began to scrap off the layers, which is the easy part. Since I had many layers, after scraping off much mess, I applied another skim coat to get rid of the debris that was left behind. This allowed me to get rid of most mess before continuing to prep the surface.

This stripper/ remover works well on lighter coats, but will require more applications the thicker the layers you have. It's not quite as thick a consistency as some other products and goes on kind of thin. The paint started showing curling after about 5 minutes. Removal was easy after about 15 minutes. It seemed to work better when I left it on longer for the second coat. Overall cleanup was fairly easy if not a little messy. Would recommend if you have 1-2 layers to remove, but may need to find an alternate method if you have more than that.

The gel paste brushes on easily and removes the finish in a short time. I used two applications to completely remove the lacquer finish on my furniture.I used this product outside on a deck, I put down drop cloths so that any spills would ruin the deck.I did not have to worry about the weather (rain) because the working time of the stripper was so fast. A word of caution, cover yourself with old clothes, arms and legs covered. Use eye and hand protection. Safety is most important.

The label on the can says paste but it's more like a pourable liquid gel. I poured some into a metal can like the directions said. I brushed it on my painted surface and let it sit on there for 15 to 20 minutes I came back and paint lifted off easily with a paint scraper, I then reapplied another coat of the stripper to get some deep down paint that was stuck in some crevices and then waited another 15 minutes and then scrubbed it out with a toothbrush it removed almost all of the old dry set in paint there were some deep spots that would have probably come out with another coat of stripper but I figured it would be fine the way it was. Afterwords I cleaned it up nicely and wiped down the wood with some mineral spirits then lightly sanded it down and repainted it with no issues. Very good product it had a mild to moderate odor if you use it in doors open a window if you're sensitive to odors. it worked as it should I would definitely recommend it

It's expensive, but strong. I like how I can pick it up at the store (they keep it in stock vs ordering online). I've used it to remove shellac once, and also on thick paint that was on a floor. I think it is strong, and even though sometimes I had to do another coat of this stripper, I was able to finish. I don't trust the more non-toxic strippers. I need strength!
