Questions & Answers

Can this be used in an oil lamp

Asked by: Lori
Yes. I even use this in an oil candle that calls for ultra pure or paraffin oil. No smoke, no odors if you keep the wick to reasonable height,

Can this oil be used in place of paraffin oil or bio fuel?

Can this oil be used in place of paraffin oil or bio fuel?
Asked by: Harm
Yes. Burns brighter than paraffin and won't clog your large wicks like paraffin will. Also smells less than paraffin. All around a better product for oil lamps and such.

is this the same as Paraffin? Ok to use in fillable candles?

is this the same as Paraffin? Ok to use in fillable candles?
Asked by: Roro
No, however, I use it in refillable oil candles that call for ultra pure or paraffin oil and, as long as you keep the wick to a reasonably short length (1-2mm) there is no smoke or odor. In my candles, due to the short wick, the flame is initially tiny. Within 2-3 minutes, the flame grows to 1inch, which is OK by me.

How many hours will 1 gallon burn?

Trying to see how many of these to purchase, I can't lift a large 4 gallon carrier, so I am buying the smaller ones, how many will I need for 24 hour period of time? Or how many gallons will I need per day? Trying to get ready for this storm that is coming.
Asked by: allison
I have old fashioned kerosene table "parlor" lamps with a flat 7/8" wick and a 26 to 28 oz. reservoir. I get about 75 to 80 minutes of light per ounce in these early 20th century lamps. So I'll get at least 160 hours of light from one gallon (per lamp). At $11 per gallon it costs less than 7 cents per hour (per lamp) to operate. No odor -- which is why I exclusively use Klean-Heat in my lamps.
