Yes, the Klein Tools’ High-Speed Steel Double Fluted Step Bits are designed for use on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum sheet metal/duct metal. They are not meant for tool steels or hardened steels.

What materials will this drill through and which materials it won't?

Mild steel, thin consumer grade SS - probably some plastics if you drill slowly enough to not melt the plastic. I assume it will be fine with any of the soft metals also. I used a 18V battery drill, and it worked, but a drill press might give you better control of kickback

if it goes dull does it have warrenty?

Well worth the money.
I needed a bit to drill through 12 gauge steel. I read the other reviews and figured it would get the job done if I kept it cool with oil. It did the job with ease. I drilled with slow speed and oil. It cut through it like butter. Highly impressed and satisfied. Expensive but worth it. 1 3/8” in 12 gauge steel no problem.

I bought the step drill bit #15. I bought it specifically to use for karambits. I am a knife maker. My first test was with a .196" annealed (40RHC) carbon steel blank. I used around 1200 rpm on my drill press and lots of oil. The bit performed excellent. I am not sure how many holes I will be able to drill but it did the job on this piece of steel.

Cut 1/16in through sheet metal no problem. Markings on the bit were easy to read. I have only used it once so far but it seems like it will hold its edge well.

Good bit to have
I am very happy with this 1.375 inch high speed double flute step drill bit. First of all the dual cutting ability of this bit works very well. It is indeed very sharp! It is graduated and the cutting width id itched on the blade for easy identification. That's a great feature when accuracy is the issue. I am very happy with this bit and would recommend.

Good for enlarging, chamfering or deburring holes but not for starting them
I'm always searching around for the correct sized drill bit in the workshop and this stepped drill bit is a great addition to any toolbox. It has a variety of sizes between 3/16" and 7/8" and is also useful for chamfering and deburring holes. I did try to drill out some steel pop rivets from some sheet steel and found that the 3/16" bit at the tip wasn't up to the job as some other reviewers have noted. I didn't try it in aluminum however so it may work better for starting holes in softer metals. As such this bit works best if you already have a pre-existing pilot hole in the material. While the different hole sizes are marked on the flute, I am far sighted and struggled to read some of the smaller sizes due to the small size of the print.

Must Have
This drill bit is a must if you are having to drill lots of holes in sheet metal with absolutely no struggle. The bit remains sharp after countless holes have been drilled. I was able to drill through 1/16” all the way to 1/8” sheet metal without any hassle. Drill bit cuts through material very nicely and leaves a smooth edge. No burs. Hole diameter numbers are engraved in the bit so they won't ever fade from wear and they are easy to read. The drill bit shank is thick, sturdy and the drill chuck bites into it nicely. Doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. This bit, if used properly with cutting lubricant, will last a very long time. A great investment.

Wonderful Step Bit
I have worked in the electrical trade for over 30 years and have used many step bits (uni-bits) in my time. On most of them the drilling tip breaks or becomes so dull you have to drill a pilot hole to use it. The Kline Step Drill is well made and ready to take on any job. I really like how the standard electrical hole sizes (7/8", 1-1/8" and 1-3/8") are clearly marked not only with a silver band but with the actual measurement marked on it in two location. Kline has an outstanding reputation for quality electrical tools and this step bit continues with that tradition.

High Quality, Extremely Sharp Bit.
This drill bit is a great purchase next to other step-bits. The double cutting edges are great for drill performance compared to bits with the single cutting edge, and the hex-shaft will eliminate spin-outs. The deeper steps at the standard fitting sizes is great to keep from overshooting or having to test fit your holes. The only drawback to a bit this size is smaller or hard-access locations.

Step up
Works great. Bit is nice and sharp and leaves clean holes that don't require any real clean up. Used in hardwood and softwood and you can't really tell the difference it just cuts through with minimal effort. The measurement markings are easy to see which is always nice to have. They also won't get worn off, I hate when they're barely printed on the shank, so kudos for thinking that one through. Nice addition to the drill selection in my shop.

Cuts Steel Like Butter
The step bit drilled though 1/8 inch steel like it wasn't there. The completed holes have a smooth, almost machined, look to them after drilling. The packaging card lists the size hole for each of the step, in case the markings on the bit get obliterated. Although this bit would normally be used for thinner material, it is nice to know that it can tackle 1/8 inch thick steel with no difficultu.
