This cutter is precise and very sharp. In fact, if you're careless enough, you just might get sliced. The box it comes in is convenient for storage, and also includes an allen wrench for switching out or sharpening the pilot bit. I did not notice much walking when starting the hole, but I would still recommend a spring punch for better accuracy; it's also easier to line up the hole since you'll feel a slight dip as it slips in. You will need a 1/2" chuck on your drill to fit the arbor. I assume most people will use this for thinner metals, but if you need to go through something thicker, then make sure to remove the spring before the first 1/8 inch or so, as it will work against you. It simply slips off and is surprisingly easy to remove; perhaps too easy, leading to its future loss. Of course, it's function is simply to help break the piece loose which you are cutting, and won't be a big deal to most. The only affected variable possibly being production speed (if used on a mass scale or in commercial settings). The maximum possible depth on this is 11/16ths before you bottom out from the depth guard. The cut I needed to make turned out very clean and burr-free in relation to other tools, but if you further want to eliminate burrs, then use some cutting fluid on a medium speed, constantly removing the shavings as you dig deeper. Going too slow will cause the drill to catch and rip out pieces, yet going too fast will wear out the saw prematurely. The rpm speed rating chart is included, but will be quite useless to most people using hand drills. Overall it's a good tool and appears to have excellent durability. If you're looking for a great value, this may not be your thing. If you're looking for precision however, then this is your guy.

This is a sturdy and heavy duty hole cutter. You certainly need a strong drill if using on dense wood. Cordless drills worked for thinner and softer wood such as pine. The hole cutter does a good job of making a clean circular hole. It creates a lot of debris, so keep that in mind if you are working on something for the inside of the house. After cutting a few holes, the metal is still super sharp. This should last years!

Cuts very good. I used on a non metal, concrete embedded surface and it did well. What i like is the pilot drill bit has a setscrew, and the wrench is supplied. the pilot is spring is removeable and adjustable making easier pilot bit changes. Supplied with its own hard case, not a blister pack, keeps it neatly stored in the bit drawer. I will use on sheet metal often, so it a nice addition.

The 1-3/4 in. Carbide Hole Cutter 1-3/4 IN. CARBIDE HOLE CUTTER worked flawlessly in making the hole in a solid door that was custom built for my outside cellar access. This made installing the doorknob/lock set very easy and neat in appearance. The bit cut through the pressure treated lumber effortlessly and made a smooth hole for the doorknob/lock set.

Klein quality tools are the electrical trades choice . As an electrician and electrical contractor for 39 years Klein has been on my side ( literally in my pouch ). This 1-3/4 IN. CARBIDE HOLE CUTTER saves time when having to make conduit entry for 1-1\4 inch conduit. Beats using a knockout punch and definitely safer than a standard hole saw . You will appreciate the quality!

When you need a precise hole in steel, there's simply no substitute for a hi-quality drill bit. And when you're drilling holes one-to-two inches wide, there's no substitute for a quality hole cutter. The carbide tips on these cutters bite and carve a beautiful hole, and the plug comes out easily. It also includes the hex key for replacing the pilot bit. Not a tool I use a lot, but I've learned that buying the best tool brings the best results, and that means getting the job done the first time, which is always my goal. Works just as well in wood, and given that it's designed for cutting steel, will probably last your lifetime if used just for wood.
