Manual is easy to read and follow for all the different settings and capabilities this tool has to offer. The CATIII/CATIV shield can be pressed in place on the lead ends to prevent arc flash. Temperature reads with with KType thermocouple offer readings in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.

This Klein meter is a nice piece of equipment. Remove one screw with a Phillips screwdriver, install the included batteries, and you are ready to go. The instruction booklet is written properly, which is appreciated. The display window is covered with clear protective plastic that should be removed to reveal the smooth, high quality display window. The backlight and the auto-shutoff are excellent. Testing the thermometer on an indoor environment, the device displayed an accurate reading of 72 degrees F. Testing the leads on a new 9V battery, the device displayed a reading of 9.54 volts, which is within the expected range. Attempts to measure the 12-volt DC output that feeds into a low-voltage lighting system, by connecting the test leads to stripped 12/2 black stranded CU low-voltage landscape lighting wire, were unsuccessful. Several connection methods were attempted, including holding the leads onto the copper cores of the wires, wrapping the copper around the tips of the leads, and using wire-nuts, with and without auto-ranging, and it is unclear why this test did not work. But it did not matter, as this reading was only to satisfy curiosity, since the landscape lighting system is fully operational. The meter comes with a good quality zipper case that is large enough to hold all of the parts, the instruction booklet, and three spare AAA batteries (add these if you expect to be away from your battery supply when the batteries need to be replaced). When this device is not in constant use, it is probably best to remove the batteries (and store them in a zip-lock bag, within the zipper case) so that they cannot discharge in the device, which can cause damage. This is a solid device from a solid brand, and with proper care, I expect it to last a long time.

KLEIN tools seems to offer quality tools at a good price point, The CL220 is a fine electrical tester with some nice features. It measures both AC & DC with the default range set to auto, this is changed by using the "range" button. the selector dial also has two positions for measuring Amps along with Ohms, continuity and temp. probably the handiest feature is the no contact voltage function, simply press & hold the SEL/NCV button and the probe will make both an audible beep and LED flash. The whole unit fits nicely in a rugged pouch that holds the tester, temp probe and electric probes.

The Klein 400ac digital clamp meter is everything a home owner would need, and some features for pros as well. This meter comes with a carry case to store the meter and test leads and thermocouple for measuring temperature's. The test leads are cool, you can take the arc cover off the lead if you don't have other wires to worry about accidently crossing. With shield off the test lead measuring part is .7", with the shield on it is 5/32" long, as pictured below. The test leads are also longer than ones I have had in past. They are 41" from base if plug to the end if the test lead. The clamp has a built in test lead holder as shown below which is handy if you are short on hands. There are w things that would be nice if came with meter package. The line splitter so you can test paired cords, and th magnetic holder, but this is a great product.

The Klein Tools 400 amp digital clamp meter with ac auto-ranging and temp arrived quickly and secured in its blister pack and inside a carton. I selected it because of the name Klein. (I own dozens of their tools). I like all the different functions it can perform. The specific feature is the small size and included case that fits well in my glove box and also cargo pants pocket. I use it for every analyizing electrical function. The quality is superb. (as expected with Klein). Easy to read the digital screen. It's working out very good. I like it a lot.

Klein tools are always a great high quality product. This particular item I chose since all you have to do is clamp around the wire and it will register either low voltage or high voltage and will automatically give you a reading. It's got a nice compact hand held meter with an LCD display which shows you the measurement; plus it also displays temperature so you can plug this in and it will actually measure the temperature of an object and hold your readings for future reference. It came with a nice carrying case and a nice booklet that easily explains all the functions.

I was needing a meter since my primary meter that I have had for >20 years developed a cracked run and would no longer make accurate dependable measurements. It was never a meter meant to take much banging around but by taking care of it I made it last a long time. I knew the Klein brand was solid and I wanted something that will stand up to regular use in my work with process system electronics and computer equipment. The was a nice middle of the road meter with all the features I needed. The display has large numbers and is easy to read especially with the backlight on. And that backlight is done like it should be. Simple to use – simple on and off. The clamp on was a bonus. I ran some quick tests with it and it looks good. I’ll use that when we need to know the running load of equipment we are installing for power calcs which we do occasionally. And this will provide a way to grab some quick measurements without having to rig something up inline. That’s a nice time saver and safer. Time is something I can always use more of. Every little moment saved adds up. I picked up the optional magnet that snaps on the back making this one easy to pop up on a metal surface to free both hands. That’s a handy feature and the magnet made for it is very strong. So many times have I had to stop and rig something up to free my hands. It is definitely good to have this available and I think worth picking up to go with this meter. I know someone complained about the leads but I personally like the leads it comes with. And I tried a set of banana style leads and they fit fine. The leads that come with it are pretty good quality and have a nice flexible insulation. And I like the way the tips have a sleeve that goes on or off to allow 2 different configurations depending on your needs (see pics). The thermocouple is a nice little bonus that will come in handy at times in a process environment since we deal with temperature measurements a lot. I love the case. I just like a softside case. It easily holds everything including the addition of the magnet without being overly bulky and it fits easily into my bag which it seems is always stuffed to capacity. My old meter had a somewhat large bulky hard square case that took a lot of space. One other nice little touch about storage is this. I was looking at the case and thinking this is just right. All it needs is some end caps for the leads. Then I recalled it came with some caps over the meter end of the leads. So I pulled those out and sure enough they fit on the measurement ends well enough to use as covers when the meter is cased. Sweet. Don’t know if they were meant for that but it works. This was clearly designed by someone that actually uses tools and knows all the little things that help make things work smoothly. You can see a lot of little indicators they listened to folks in the field. I think this meter will serve me very well and I can put my old one to rest without looking back. I’m pretty happy with this meter. I think this will serve me great. My last one had a few things missing here but in the higher end models like capacitance measurement and diode check but I never used those things. What I need is a reliable meter for the basic functions and this is it.

KLEIN 400 Amp. Digital Clamp Meter I'm very pleased to be given the chance to evaluate the KLEIN 400 Amp Digital Meter for the Home Depot Seeds program. I have a older Amp/Volt clamp meter that I've used for years. Opening up the package and looking at the meter and instruction booklet; how things have changed. I put on the bench the old meters I have with the new digital Klein clamp meter. The new Klein meter will do all or part of what they will do. I opened the sub panel in my garage and checked one leg coming into the shop with the light and A.C. going and then just the A.C., also the lighted face makes easy reading. I'm very happy with the new KLEIN and looking at the instruction book I need to do some studying, can't wait to use the temp. reading..

Klein Tools Digital Clamping Meter Pros: Professional quality, carrying case, clear instructions, carrying case, multi-meter. Cons: Requires line splitter, part 69409, to test twin wire cords. Here is what I like about this unit: it is obviously of professional quality, the controls are all heavy duty and the rotary switch controls all functions, lit LCD screen, NCV (non-contact voltage sensor) allows for detection of voltage in a wire without actually touching the wire, temperature measurement range -40 deg. F-1832 deg. F, comes with three AAA batteries, comes with a convenient carrying case with storage for the probes, heavy duty probes, can measure both AC and DC voltage (but not DC current for the CL220). What I don’t like is that for a few dollars more Klein could have included their line splitter part no. 69409 so that clients who forgot to order the part would not have to place another, separate order. The line splitter allows for measuring current in a twin wire cord without having to split the line physically. This is a great addition for either professional or the do-it-yourself toolbox. Two year warranty. Highly recommended. \
