Product Overview

ET60 is a solid-state electronic voltage tester designed by electricians, for electricians. It features a simple to use LED display to clearly present AC/DC voltage measurements up to 600V. Featuring low impedance to limit false readings, the ET60 tester is an excellent choice for testing voltage in electrical circuits, at outlets, in light fixtures or anywhere else where AC/DC voltage testing is required.
  • California residents
  • Tests AC/DC voltage from 12- 600-Volt at nine useful levels aligned with commonly used voltages
  • Uses standard replaceable multi-meter test-leads for versatility
  • CATIV 600-Volt modern solid-state design for safety
  • Easy-to-use bright LED display clearly reports the voltage present in the circuit being tested
  • Integrated test-lead holders are used for lead storage or for holding the probes correctly spaced for insertion into t amper-resistant US-style outlets
  • Inherent low input impedance reduces the possibility of falsely reading ghost or stray voltages on non-energized circuits
  • Batteries not requires as tester is powered by the applied voltage in the circuit being tested

The Klein Tools model # ET60 Voltage Tester is not designed for continuity testing. Please see the Klein Tools model # ET250 Voltage/Continuity Tester

all the lights come on how do u no

The lights will go on up to the voltage level its reading . It measures AC/DC voltages up to 600V. This unit when testing over 240V should only be used in short intervals with rests inbetween. It will not indicate anything over 600v. If all lights are lighted up you are the max this unit can read and damage to the unit can occur. Be safe. Here is the user guide for reference. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/54/5421778c-0f08-476f-b28a-9371e163b1eb.pdf

Will this identify the hot wire and the neutral? I have two black wires coming iut if my light fixture. Strangely the light wasnt color coded either.

Put black test lead on the metal case of your box if you have one ,(if not put on metal case) separate the 2 wires and then cut power back on .take the red lead of the meter and touch one of the black wires ,and which black wire lights up, will be the SOURCE (incoming power)and the other wire will be to the load(fixture, bulb, fan etc..)

Reading all the answers, a little clarity is needed. If your house is wired right and your receptacle is wired right and installed correctly with the round hole at the bottom, the right slot will always be the hot one to ground, the left one will always be neutral and the bottom will always be ground. Polarity wise, red should always go to the expected hot side and the black to the neutral or ground for good practice though in houses it works either way. If you're hot on the red to ground but not to neutral, you have a loose/disconnected neutral wire from that receptacle back to the neutral buss in the service panel. It may connect up with the home run neutral in a light box or another receptacle box. If you go looking for it with the circuit breaker left on for that receptacle, the neutral, if you find, it will be HOT -- looking for it's way back to the panel. If you reconnect it with the breaker still on, it will spark. Once you make contact with the rest of the wires or at the neutral buss, maintain the contact while you tighten the connection. All is well.

Does it indicate that you are on a live circuit other than light up the LEDs, like vibrate or buz...

I like this voltage tester because it's a good one for quick testing/troubleshooting. Of course it doesn't have all the fancy features of a digital multimeter. That's why it's a good tester to have handy in your pickup or toolbag. It doesn't take up a lot of space, it does both ac/dc, and you can eliminate obvious issues quickly before needing to break out the heavier artillery. For the price, I would definitely suggest this tester.

This electronic AC/DC Voltage Tester by Klein Tools is slender in size with a nice design. It does not use a battery, it is powered by the applied voltage. It measures AC/DC voltage up to 600V. It is a low impedance electronic voltage tester. The LED's illuminate partially when approaching indicated voltage, and fully starting at approximately 90% of indicated voltage.

(What's this)
This is a very good and seemingly accurate tester. I used it on a couple different outlets to test the readings and they were inline with what I expected. I also can use this to test to see if electrical lines are hot or turned off. Overall its' a very nice and compact tester that easily fits in my toolbox. The test leads come with caps to prevent puncture and also the option to remove so you can test an outlet. You also do not need a battery so this makes it extra versatile in the work place.

This tester is nice and compact. It is easy to use, you just touch the leads to whatever you want to test and it shows the results. I tested a ground fault circuit and it tested great even when I tested to show a fault. I tested several plugs and a few switches and it always worked great. I tested across the battery on my car to see if it would read the alternator charge, and it worked great for DC testing on my car. ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS TESTER DOES NOT USE A BATTERY. The leads store nicely on the back of the unit.

(What's this)
The Klein ET-60 electronic AC/DC voltage tester with LED display is another well built product from Klein. It frees up the electricians hands by allowing the test leads/probes to be inserted into the back of the device to test GFCI, and duplex receptacles thus allowing for a one hand operation. The display is nicely laid out, that makes it easy to use and read while performing any task that may arise.

This tester is awesome! Easy to use for multi purpose . AC , DC, 12 Volts to 600 volts. 12V,24V, 48V, 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, 480V, 600V indicators, Low impedance, battery free operation. Removable test leads with multi tip integrated lead holder. along with optional tips available make this useful in so many ways. In comparison to my heavy duty line tester this is awesome. Not quite as robust in the hand but it's range will make this a go to tester.
