Answer This Question
A: Nothing in the description mentions that it's waterproof. (as in using underwater) I suspect that if it is left out in the rain, do not use it until it is completely dry.
An excellent Klein Tools tool. I recommend it.

works Great, Good Price, Accurate
This is a nice, well made China :( , pocket IR temp sensor that fits in your pocket or in the included case (hand strap no belt loop). The versatility of using the contact-free IR or stainless probe is very nice. I found a number of applications, some are:- Learning temperature inside heating/cooling forced air systems with the flip-out probe. You can push it through standard fiberglass ducts.- Measuring temperature of hot water or steam heat pipes to troubleshoot flow.- Checking the heat pads inside our outdoor cat houses.- Using the laser pointer to drive my cats and wife crazy.- Scanning temperatures of outside walls to find cold spots/heat loss.- Checking electrical breakers, devices, and cords for abnormal temps that indicate a problem, etc. Both the IR/Non-Contact and Stainless Steel Probe appear to be accurate, and the IR sensor holds the last reading on the display when you release the button. Only one product suggestion for Klein:When I hold this in my right hand, as I would any tool, the display is upside down, so I have to hold it differently to read the screen. Not a big deal, but it would be great to flip the screen for right/left hand use.

Anything Klein=quality and applicability. These simple yet oh so useful HVAC tools let you check your power to your central air condenser or capacitor, the temperature of your air handler coil, and the start up amperage of your central air condenser. Everything is easy to use, read, and figure out. There are three tools: amp meter, temperature probe, and voltage tester, Why use an amp tester? Start-up amps on a condenser tells you a lot. You have to be able to measure it and see what amperage across what time period at start up. The voltage tester shows by a red light coming on if there is the presence of voltage; you have to know what is "live" or if it is supposed to be live, if it really is. It turns on with a button, and has a green light until when and if it detects voltage-then a red light turns on. So this is handy to avoid getting zapped. This tool also has an independent flashlight built in. This is great for seeing inside an air handler in an attic. The last tool is a temperature probe reading in C or F. There is a flip-out metal probe rod to stick into liquid or whatever to read temps. There is a tip laser light that can be pointed at a coil in an air handler to read its temperature. So with the laser light or probe, temps can be read. There are other probes and things that come with the kit; these are in the nice storage bag. The voltage tester and temperature sensor tools have shirt pocket clips to store them instead of laying them down. I found the tools easy to use. The clamp meter is easy to use; clamp it onto a wire to read amps or use the accompanying plug in probes to measure voltage. There are enough central air videos out there so I show my tools in use inside. However, I included one picture of a central air capacitor to show how you can find your parts so rusted, the only way to check anything is to use these tools. Presence and absence of voltage guides you. For the value, the reputation, the warranty, and their use, I can hands-down say these are tools you want in your tool box. These tools give you the where with all to do what you need to do when diagnosing your central air system or really with anything else when it comes to testing for voltage, amperage, and temperature and/or safely testing an outlet or wired connection. These are all for AC 110v/220v. These are quality tools that will last. I recommend these.

This is a review for KLEIN TOOLS CL320KIT designed for use to service HVAC equipment. The kit includes NCVT-P no-contact AC voltage tester with LED flashlight, IR07 infrared thermometer/probe thermometer, and CL320 true root mean square, auto ranging 400 ampere HVAC clamp meter. Included are test leads for the clamp meter, K-type thermocouple for temperature measurements with the clamp meter, all needed batteries, a zippered nylon fabric carrying case and very clearly written instructions. The instrument cases themselves are of high quality, high-impact resistance plastic with drop resistance rating of 6.6 feet for the clamp-on meter. Battery compartment covers for the IRO7 and CL320 instruments are held in place with metal screws with brass threaded nuts cast into the cases. The no-contact voltage tester has two ranges of 70-1000 VAC and 12-1000 VAC. It is waterproof having an O-ring seal for the battery compartment cover. The clamp meter is full-featured, capable of measuring AC/DC voltage, AC current, resistance, DC millivolts, DC microamps, non-contact voltage, audible continuity, temperature, capacitance, and AC frequency This instrument shuts off automatically after 10 minutes of non-use. A two-year warranty applies to Klein electrical measurement tools. I tried many of the functions of these measurement tools. All functioned as expected. Overall, my conclusion is that this kit is of high-quality with a reasonable warranty.
This is an important tool set. It provides extra confidence and safety during any electrical work. We recently bought a new home and have ended up replacing a lot of switches and wall plugs with more modern decora and even “smart” units. Two rooms are wired for fans, but the fans aren’t installed, and the whole house is plumbed/wired for Air conditioning, but there is no air conditioner on the cement pad in the yard. I am counting on this Klein Tools HVAC kit and a modicum of common sense to keep me and my spouse safe as we enjoy life as DIY homeowners.
NON-CONTACT VOLTMETER: I have used the non-contact voltage meter to confirm that all the wires in a box were dead before putting my fingers inside. Then, after carefully arranging the wires outside the box, turned the power back on to determine which wires are line and which are load.
DIGITAL CLAMP METER: This Klein Tools Digital clamp meter has almost all the features of a good multimeter plus a current loop and non-contact voltage meter all in a very compact unit. I used the digital clamp meter to discover how much current the light and fan in my shower used at different settings. It is really neat to be able to measure current without breaking into the circuit. I also attached some little alligator clips and used the diode test setting with audible chirp to test the functionality of a wifi smart relay from Eastern Europe. The manual seemed clear enough when I ordered the unit, but, during installation, it became clear that in some steps I didn’t understand their phrasing. Clamping the meter across the output of the relay helped me understand how different menu selections in their android app affected the output of the device. This is a high quality meter with many advanced features. It is not as fancy as a CL-900, but this CL-320 has most of the features a DIY homeowner will use. I was tempted to look for a CL-390 because it can also measure DC current, but I already have an old multimeter that can do that.
INFRARED & PROBE THERMOMETER: We decided to postpone installing our air conditioner for at least another year so the combination IR and probe thermometer has been used mainly just to satisfy my curiosity regarding the temperature in the attic, the difference in surface temperature between our driveway and the crushed rock nearby, my spouse’s normal forehead temperature, etc. It measured a glass of water a degree lower than the probe I use for my barbecue, but the barbecue probe probably isn’t accurate in that cool temperature range.
Overall, I am very happy with this set.

This kit has many uses and is a must for electrical troubleshooting It has many different features from Amps AC only up to 400 amps, Volts both AC and DC, resistance, impedance, temperatures both centigrade and Fahrenheit and frequency. It is lightweight and is totally contained in a high-quality case. I would recommend for every electrician or air conditioning specialist to have one of these in their tool kit.

An excellent option if you are a professional or for home use. I’ve had this for about a week now and keep coming up with different ways to use it. Today I was installing a ceiling fan and the non contact voltage tester was perfect to make sure I turned off the right breaker and then needed the bolt meter to figure out which wire was power and which one controlled the speed. I love the automatic voltage adjustment option on the multimeter.
There are so many other things this can do which I am only just figuring out. I tested the temperature reading with a pan on my stove up to almost 500 degrees and quickly measured the temp.
A awesome kit for the advanced diyer who does a bit of electrical to keep you safe or I could see professional electrician using on a daily basis.

Great electrical kit, covers about everything you need to check electrical components on a HVAC system I have been in the business for over 40 years. All three items include upgrades and some extras from standard instruments. The clamp on digital meter checks amps up to 400 A (with TRUE RMS) so you are not just reading the max amps but the true average amp draw which is important with variable speed units, Auto voltage with non contact ability, both DC and AC, DC millivolts and Microamps, temperature, Tests Diodes and capacitance test, Also has drop protection (i can say I accidently dropped from 3 ft and no problems, The dual IR and probe Thermometer works great, good size for pockets and combines 2 actions in one device. Has a 8:1 distance ratio. Stores max min readings. Only thing no off button, but you open probe and close and it turns off. The safety voltage tester includes a flashlight that operates independently and lights to indicate voltage range, not just that voltage is present. Comes with nice case and voltage and temperature leads. Case has loop so can be hung on belt or tool pouch for climbing ladders.

Useful selection of tools for HVAC testing and maintenance. Kit includes a digital clamp meter, IR/probe thermometer, and non-contact voltage sensor/flashlight.
The CL320 clamp meter has TRMS (true root mean squared) accuracy. Includes a carrying case, test leads with safety caps on the probe ends, thermocouple, instructions, and 3 AAA batteries. The clamp measures AC current to 400 amperes. Leads measure AC/DC voltage to 600v, resistance, frequency, DC microamps (for testing flame sensors), capacitance (for testing start/run capacitors), duty cycle, diode test, continuity tracing, and temperature with included thermocouple probe. A non-contact voltage sensor located in the fixed jaw of clamp provides audible warning and flashing light when near a live AC circuit (40 volts minimum). Frequency of beeps and flashes increases when moved closer to circuit. The test lead probes have 2 sets of caps to expose only the tips or the full probes as required. A test lead holder on the fixed side of the clamp enables user to hold meter and probe with one hand. A magnetic holder not included but available for separate purchase can be attached to the back of the meter for hands-free use. The meter records max/min readings, duty cycle, and saves readings after shutoff. Auto-shutoff after 10 minutes saves batteries. Low battery indicator. Backlit LCD is readable in dim light. Zipper carrying case holds entire kit.
IR07 infrared radiation sensor with aiming laser is useful for non-contact temperature measurement of surfaces. A fold-out stainless steel probe enables contact measurement of air flow temperature in a duct. Temperature range is -40 to 572 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 300 degrees Celsius). Calculates max/min and differential temperature (T1-T2) for both IR and probe. Powered by 2 included AAA batteries.
NCVT3P is a combined flashlight and non-contact AC voltage tester. Dual range sensitivity detects from 12v to 1000v AC or 70v to 1000v AC. Audible beeps and colored LEDs in tip indicate sensing of AC voltage: blue=low voltage, red=high voltage. Flashlight is handy for use at dimly lit locations often encountered on HVAC jobs. Durable polycarbonate shell sealed with O-ring. Powered by 2 included AAA batteries.
All in all, a versatile choice for HVAC tasks. Warranty: 2 years from date of purchase. Made in China.

Very nice kit and has pretty much everything a DYIer would need and possibly a journeyman/woman. I’m checking out my RV AC and between voltage tester, and especially probe thermometer, etc., I’m covered. The kit is well put together but make sure this will cover your applications and uses. For example, some clamp meters have a non-contact touch voltage tester as part of the meter’s capability. Therefore, IMO, you would not need a separate voltage tester. On the other hand, the pocket voltage tester is small, slim, quick, easy to use by itself and desirable. The probe, meter and voltage tester are nicely packed in the storage pouch, the meter is easy to read and is backlit. Good quality and sturdy.
