This Klein probe (Model #69144, Made in China) is long – 13 inches without the cord, which extends to 60 inches. The sharp metal probe can easily poke 7 inches into fiberglass ducting. I appreciate the fact it has a banana plug adapter so it works with Digital meters without K-type jacks, provided the meter's jacks are spaced properly (most are standard). The probe is accurate to within a degree or two of several other temperature probes I have, and the response time is typically long for larger digital probes. It took about 90 seconds for readings to stabilize when measuring different areas. The probe has no magnet or clip to hold it, so that's a long time when holding the probe overhead inside an air vent, but that's not the prime purpose of this probe. The included case is of excellent quality and probably explains the relatively high cost of this simple probe. A complete Klein HVAC thermometer (with only a 3-inch probe) is available for about half the price, but if you need to poke through thick ducting (and have a compatible meter) this special-purpose tool will certainly do the trick.

My meter came with 16 inches of thermocouple, which works OK, but is rather flimsy and often not long enough. So, I decided to give this temperature probe a try. It plugs into the meter just like the thermocouple wire did, which is a type K too, so no change there. The probe has a handle and the attached wire is a little longer. The probe also comes with a nice storage pouch, which is an added bonus.

I do all my own electrical. I have a number of Klein products. I found this probe to be "ok". Not my favorite. It's a simple device and I have no complaint about the operation of it, but quality and design-wise I wasn't impressed. The cord is too short and because it's got a tight coil in it, trying to reach in for a measurement while the meter is, say, on a table or a shelf, the meter is pulled free. Also, the probe connection is flat prongs and they, too, are pulled at when stretching the cord. It's a loose coupling and it immediately starts to skew. If you are going to rarely use it, you'll be fine, but if you plan to use this daily ... I'd much prefer to see a more flexible and longer cord, as well as a better, more positive connection.

The overall length of this Klein K-Type Temperature Probe is just over 12 inches, with the stainless steel probe being 7-inches and the handle making up the rest of the length. A multi-meter (not included) is required for use of this probe. The probe will work with any multi-meter. The tip of the probe is pointed and sharp, and will pierce fiberglass and thin PVC ductwork. This probe operates in a wide temperature range from -58 degrees F to 1112 degrees F. I tested the probe in different environments with a wide range of temperatures. The probe gives a quick reading and is accurate to within a degree or two. A protective, zippered nylon case with a loop for hanging is included.

It comes with a banana plug adapter for the K -type plus so it is compatible with most meters that have temperature capabilities. It’s rage is -58 to 1112 degrees F. . It has a coiled cord terminating at the plug. Hard Plastic handle, included is a case which is handy . It’s performance is good, I wish the handle was rubberized for a better grip. It works well with my Fluke meter that has temperature capabilities along with my Klein meters . The probe is of good length for slipping under insulation along with getting into vents etc. Because of its range it has many applications beyond HVAC.

It comes with a nice padded zipper carry case that will protect it. It also comes with a banana plug adapter that is needed for certain meters. It is a Type K thermocouple rated for -58°F to 1112°F (-50°C to 600°C), and has a 5' coiled cable. This tool is ideal for HVAC duct measurements, however I tend to use these in the kitchen since I am not in the HVAC business. It is very accurate and well made, and sturdy enough to stick into a roast or BBQ pork shoulder. The plastic handle is not temp-rated so keep that portion outside of the grill. Excellent tool!

If you are going to use this temperature probe for professional use it is definitely worth it. I got it for myself as an add on for my Klein CL310 meter for no particular reason. It says the cord extends to 5 feet but with it being coiled I don't expect it to really reach that far but I can't think of a reason why I would ever have to. This will be useful to measure the difference in temperatures in my house from the attic to the basement to see where I can make the house more efficient and to check the output temps of the furnace and AC to make sure they operating as expected.

Klein makes great tools and accessories, and in this case they have done it again. The probe comes in a nice case to keep it protected. and banana plug adapters to use on different meters. . It is a Type K thermocouple rated for -58°F to 1112°F (-50°C to 600°C), it is heavy duty and will work well for HVAC as well as in the kitchen and shop.I am currently using mine for melting lead and in the kitchen for making candies, Checking it against my other digital and analog meters it seems to be 100% correct, accurate and sturdy to take years of abuse
