The 11055 is designed for 10-18 AWG solid and 12-20 AWG stranded wire. The 11057 is designed for 20-30 AWG solid and 22-32 AWG stranded wire.

        Answer This Question

Yes. However, if you are using this for a computer the best way is to terminate the wire onto a jack rather than split the pairs onto screw terminals. Also, keep the twists as clost to the termination point as possible. I can't explain the physics of it, but the twist helps with communication. Hope this helps!

if you are inserting the wires into an rj45 connector you do not strip them first. when you squeeze the connector it pierces the insulation

          By|Oct 17, 2020

yes, most likely. As long as the AWG of the individual wires are covered by the size on strippers

Yes, this pliers is perfect for smaller wire.

              Yes if it's 20 to 30AWG.

The Klein Tools Kurve Wire Stripper/Cutter #11057 strips and cuts 20 - 30 AWG Solid (.50 - .14 sq. mm) & 22 - 32 AWG Stranded (.34 - .05 sq. mm). The small wires inside the 4-pair cat6 cable are 22-24 AWG, so you should be able to strip them with this tool.

I recently purchased the Klein Tools 11057 wire trimmers. I had purchased a different brand of wire trimmer last year that were not able to match the quality, or the tolerance of the Klein. I own several different Klein tools and will continue to replace my old tools with Klein as needed.

Works perfectly every time. Sharp, accurate, and makes electrical work much faster.

From previous experience with this style of Klein Wire Stripper I know they are typically well-made, and this small wire tool did not disappoint. Sharp and with good tolerances at the cutting edges. While they were not perfect for the tiny stranded wire with extremely tough insulation that I was stripping, I do not believe this style of stripper could be manufactured to do a better job. For the small number of cuts that I need the stripper for I could not justify the time to search for nor the most likely much greater cost for a different style of wire stripper. If I had a lot of very small stranded wire stripping to do I would look for an alternative design. Probably adjustable and better suited to pulling the insulation off the wire.

Sloppy Blades Don't Cut Thin Stranded Ends
These were purchased to strip and cut small gauge wire, but they're too imprecise and poorly designed to cut thin wire ends. They're listed for stranded wire down to 32 gauge; they strip well, but fail badly during end cuts of bare wires. As you can see in the attached photo, there's a visible gap between the cutting blades, so they frequently bend the wire strands as they slip between the blades. My guess is, they took a romex (bigger wire) Curve stripper and gave it smaller stripping grooves without realizing it must have tighter tolerences to scissor through thinner wire, especially stranded. >> As you can see from the attached photo, right out of the box mine had a noticeable gap between the blades......they don't even touch! Consequently, they're horrible at cutting fine, stranded wire that's not jacketed. I have to use electricial scissors or diagonal cutters to trim the stranded wire ends. >> KLEIN: If you want to be successful  in the low voltage wire space, you cannot sell imprecise wire strippers/cutters with blades that don't even touch!!

Exactly what I needed for wire stripping and installing DCC decoder in my HO scale locomotive. The wire gauge is 30amg, worked without any problem.
