Laser Level, Self-Leveling Green Cross-Line and Red Plumb Spot

This Laser Level has some really nice features: Automatic leveling, versatile mounting bracket, and the ability for the tool to rotate on its base are a few. Making sure the level is level has always been a challenge for me at a work site and the automatic leveling feature eliminates a lot of that work. It only has to be within 4% of level and it will do the rest. I tested the ‘out of level light’ (pictured) to see if came on when I was beyond the 4% and it worked. You can mount the laser on a tripod as easy as you can a camera or you can use the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket has a keyhole so you can put a deck screw into a post and hang the mounting bracket and then the magnets on the laser connect it to the mounting bracket. One of the features that I really like is, once the laser is set up, it can rotate 180 degrees so you can move the vertical line where you need it without remounting the laser. The case the laser comes in is well designed to carry the laser, mounting bracket and the instruction booklet. As with all of the lasers that I have ever used ambient light is not your friend. The brighter it is the harder it is to see the laser lines. However, this can be overcome by moving the laser closer to the work area. Cut the distance in half and the light is four time brighter. This is a great tool for construction work.

Green is SO MUCH EASIER TO SEE. Why did they ever start with red lasers? Green is the new gold standard. I have a similar laser in red and the green is just hands down easier to see. This works like all cross lasers I have ever had, the laser beams "float" on a liquid of some kind. There is a little bobbing and shaking after you set it down until the beam situates itself, but once it's there it's totally accurate. You can choose a spot (dot), horizontal line, vertical line, or both lines (a cross). It has some ability to rotate on it's base, and the base can be hung from a nail, so you have a little flexibility when finding a spot for it. The nail hanger does leave a little to be desired, you have to figure out how far below the nail hole the line appears and then add that to your measurement. I suggest writing it on the side of the unit in sharpee after you figure it out to prevent future headaches. That said, it's a minor inconvenience that can be corrected on the first use, still a home run.

These lines are very bright and are easily visible indoors or outside. The laser beams remain on regardless of how the level is oriented. If it is not within 4 degrees of level, the beams flash twice quickly once a second to let you know that it isn't level. The level can project horizontal or vertical lines independently or together to address various alignment tasks. The level has a magnetic bracket which makes it possible to attach to objects such as steel studs, doors, beams, electrical panels or any steel object. There is also an additional mounting clamp attachment for use on ceiling grid applications. The level has a low battery indicator and a easily accessible battery compartment. And finally, the unit has a hard plastic carrying case included. Another fine tool from Klein Tools.

the Klein SELF-LEVELING GREEN CROSS-LINE AND RED PLUMB SPOT LASER LEVEL. is a real time saver when installing kitchen cabinets . the Green Laser beams are easy to see in vertical or horizon . the unit use 3 penlight Batteries and is self leveling . you can attach it to a wood stud or by its built in strong magnetic or on tripod using the built in 1/4-Inch and 5/8-Inch tripod mounting. there also a red plumb spot laser thats built in gives you a pin point overhead beam .the head swivels easily but firmly. i do recommend you use rechargeable batterys and having 2 sets as the unit drains the power out fast .the beams will flash when getting low on battery power .

The Klein Tools Laser Level, Self-Leveling Green Cross-Line and Red Plumb Spot is a true asset to my job. About 90% of my work is done without any assistance and I am always looking for ways to operate easier and faster. Using the vertical line, I can mark where wall studs are located, making it easy to place screws when hanging cabinets. I can project a horizontal line on a wall then measure to find high and low spots on a floor. With the vertical and horizontal lines together, I can identify corners when cutting holes for receptacles and panels. One upcoming home project is to install a ceiling fan on my back porch. The ceiling is sloped, which can make placement a challenge. Using the plumb bob feature all I need to do is find the center of the patio then put the dot on the ceiling to see exactly where to hang the fan. To get the most out of this level I recommend using it in conjunction with a tripod (not included). It made adjusting the level easy when I had no metal to stick the magnet to and was preferable to making an unwanted screw hole for hanging. The mounting holes are standard size and work perfectly with my camera tripod. I have used various colored lasers over the years and find green much easier to see than the more common red. I had no problem locating the green lines outside in sunlight.

Wow!! Great piece of equiptment. Simple to use, it almost runs itself. Nice large operation buttons, especially the on-off switch. Now, getting back to it's storage case, it has a nice carry handle. The unit itself fits snugly into a space next to the magnetic detachable mount. Unit works well positioned on any flat surface and it also has a loop for hanging it on a nail or screw. Buttons are easy to read from a distance and the laser is a nice green color. Especially like the self leveling function that is a real benefit!

I am delighted with this laser level. Outside In the shade on a sunny day it was easily visible for 30' against a light surface. Inside it's bright enough for pretty much any lighting condition. I wanted to be able to display diagonal, off-level lines and I can. The lasers stay on regardless of how the level is oriented. If it's not within 4 degrees of level, the beams flash twice quickly once a second to let you know that it isn't level. I think this is a good way for this to work - I can still do diagonal lines, but it also lets me know if I wanted it to be level and for some reason it wasn't. The level is mounted on a flexible swivel base that can sit on a flat surface, be hung on a nail or screw, or attached to any vertical metal with two strong magnets. As far as I can tell the level isn't supposed to be removed from this base. It also comes with a clamp-on wall adapter than can clip to a suspended ceiling grid or hung from a nail. This adapter has a metal plate that the level magnets attach strongly to. I was unable to slide the the level on the plate to align it - I had to tilt the level away from the adapter to release the magnets before it could be repositioned. The level on its swivel base is larger than I expected at 5.25" long, 5" tall, and 2.5" wide. Both the horizontal and vertical beams are very wide - 100 degrees horizontal and 110 degrees vertical. When placed on the floor the vertical beam is first visible 4" from the front of the level, so it will be easy to use to align tile or flooring. A hard plastic case and batteries are included. It's made in China.
