            Works great but too large
This is a great idea for pulling cables in walls. The kit is comprised of nylon braided rope with a magnetic leader on one end and pull ring on the other. It also has a separate, very strong magnet you use on the outside of the wall to attract and guide the leader. The leader has a pointed tip to help guide it through insulation, etc. The main problem I have is that you have to drill a 1.5 inch hole in the top plate of the wall to insert the leader. This is far too large for running cables. I found the leader and the external magnet attracted to each other very easily through 5/8 inch drywall. However, when trying the same thing on doubled up drywall, they did attract but were easily separated with the slightest bump or obstacle.

Good but Not Perfect Wire Pulling System
Cool new take on an old problem, how do you efficiently install wires in finished walls. I have been in the electrical trade for over 34 years and have done this task with all types of wiring in thousands of walls. I would have rated this five stars if the magnetic piece that goes into the wall cavity was a little smaller. It will require at least a 1-1/2" hole and my other issue with it is that it is magnetic and could attache to other metal piping or boxes located in the wall. Other than that I love how strong the magnetic is, that it has a swivel ring attached tothe line for ease of attaching any type of wire. All in all a good product (not perfect) from a great name in electrical tools.

I like this thing. It works very well for fishing wires into walls when there is no insulation in the wall. It also works when there is popcorn or knockdown structure on the drywall. If the drywall is on a stone wall (exterior wall) there should be at least 0.75 inch of space. Otherwise the cord or the guide may get caught. My last project with this was fishing wire for a new ceiling fan 11 feet up from the switch and then another 6 feet to the center of the center of the room.

If you have cross braces and insulation in your wall...
If you have cross braces and insulation in your wall or ceiling this will be a pain to fish. Of course you probably won't know until you start fishing. The magnet will stick to the metal cross braces. Also, if you have double drywall the magnet will not hold. Heck even with a standard single 1/2 inch drywall piece it wont hold very well unless you fish the wires from top to bottom so gravity can help. With the old school fish rods you can get around the cross braces with a whisk or flexing the fish rod with your hand against the drywall. I think this magnet system is only best for walls with no insulation or walls with no cross braces. You could probably still get the job done but you'll have to put a couple more holes in the wall to move the magnet over the cross braces.

              Works great
This wire puller works as intended. As you guide it along the wall, just take it nice and easy and you're set. I just used this for several wire pulls and works like a charm, a purchase that is definitely worth it.
