Q:Will this work on a multi-bit screwdriver? Will it also magnetize the shaft so that it holds the bits in more securely? Also, is the magnet strong enough that I need to worry about keeping it away from electronics and credit cards and things?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, it will work on a multi-bit screwdriver. It doesn’t magnetize the shaft to hold bits more securely. We recommend keeping magnets away from electronics and credit cards.

A: No , put in the search window at homedepot.com. Magnetic Stud Finder there are many that work .
by|Jun 15, 2020
A: Not what it is designed to do - it will magnetize or demagnetize an object that is passed thorough the openings - example would be a screwdriver. It will not "find" anything metal.

Worth the money!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this little guy about a month ago because I was so tired of screws falling onto the ground when I was working from a scissor lift. Now, I can easily magnetize my screwdriver or drill bits. This makes the job much easier because now I can utilize both of my hands instead of having to hold the screw in place so it doesn’t fall. Definitely worth the money ! Thanks Klein

One of the coolest Klein tool I owned!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whenever I drop that screw behind the water tank. I can’t reach it. Grab that #2 straight slot 8” long screw driver, slide it through my Klein Tools Magnetizer and bam just like magic grab that screw, then on with my day. Thank you Klein Tools!

If this website allowed me to give this Klein Tools magnetizer / demagnetizer 10 stars, I would. It is awesome! I had seen other magnetizers demonstrated online and most, if not all, didn't perform very well and it took several swipes in and out to either magnetize and/or demagnetize the screwdriver. However, I really wanted one of these to help make projects involving screws easier and faster. I didn't have high expectations, but I was still willing to put up with the imperfections for the convenience. I ordered the Klein Tools magnetizer because I am always pleased with Klein products. As soon as it arrived, I had to try it out. Well, let me tell you, it worked the 1st time...both magnetizing and demagnetizing. It continues to work the 1st time, EVERYTIME! The magnet is very powerful and the directions clear and precise. Just fully insert shaft of screwdriver into the appropriate slot and pull straight out, without rotating when pulling out. I even went out and bought a couple more of these for gifts because I think this is the best addition to anyone's toolbox. Please watch my video below to see how simple this magnetizer is to use.

I left off a start just because some of my larger screw drivers did not fit in the holes. On all the drivers that I used it on that did fit it worked well. I could magnetize and demagnetize at will. I don't generally work on things that I need to worry about the drivers being magnetized but occasionally I do. The usually time when I would demagnetize it when working on a computer or other electronic device that has chips and memory. The magnetizing works well and makes ferrous screws stay on the driver much easier. I am not sure if over magnetizer/demagnetizers create a stronger magnetism but this does the job for me.

This tool is perfect when for me to magnetize my small tip drivers when working with tiny screws. I seem to always drop the smallest screws right when I get them into place. This tool eliminates that problem for me and it actually works. Just pass the bit end of your screw driver (or screw) through the tool and it becomes magnetic. If you need to demagnetize there are separate holes for that as well. The device comes with an optional key ring so you can add it to your tool bag/belt. Great invention!

This Klein tool is a cool little tool to have,It has rare earth magnets in a hard plastic body to magnetize and demagnetize your screw drivers and driver bits. When you need to hold on to a screw to drive just insert the bit or screw driver into the magnetizer and pull it out slowly and it will be magnetized to hold on to the screw. It has three slots in the bottom to demagnetize if your working around sensitive areas that can be damaged by magnetism like some electronics. This is a great little tool to have and I have it on the included key ring on the outside of my tool bag for whenever I need it.

The Klein Tools Magnetizer / Demagnetizer should be in everyone's toolkit. Being able to magnetize a screwdriver makes it that much easier to work with the little screws in computers, and then being able to demagnetize when needed is even better. It's so simple to use - pass the screwdriver through the hole marked "Magnetize", and it's ready. My son had a lot of fun magnetizing all the screwdrivers in my tool kits, and a few steel rods that would fit. He was disappointed the wood dowel rods her tried didn't get magnetized, but that just made for a good lesson on ferrous versus non-ferrous materials!

This is one of those cool little tools that everyone should have in their tool box. High visibility orange means it won't get overlooked and lost in the tool box or glove box. Simple, basic and very easy to use. This tool uses super powerful rare earth magnets that allows you to quickly magnetizes and demagnetizes screwdrivers. Measures 2-1/4L x 1-1/8W. A metal key ring is includes for use as a key fob. My son who is training to be an auto technician, has already claimed my tool as his own, so I need to get another for myself.

This is a basic tool that works great. The magnetizer works well giveing the tool pushed through the hole magnetization. By simply passing it through the demagnetizer the tool no longer has any magnetic pull. Being able in my test to pick up several items. If you need to secure a screw on the tip of a screwdriver this tool, will allow you to magnetize your tool . Your tool will hold a screw or hardware in place so your able to put the screw where you want it whithout holding it. It’s also good in reverse if you need to get a small piece of hardware out of a tight place where your fingers won’t reach. Of course the hardware needs to be a Farris material for it to work. This tool really works .
