How to assemble the base. I've tried numerous times and it seems impossible.

I bought mine at the store several years ago and the best that I can remember is that it came pre-assembled. I don't recall having to struggle with inserting the handle.

Can this be used in a basement floor drain that is slightly angled at about 45 degrees?

I believe it will. Just make sure the tapered end drops back into the plunger dome...make sure you have a good seal (most important) and it should work.

Sounds like a clogged lined to the sewer/septic system. You probably have some blockage that could be anything from roots to a broken line to toilet "junk". Needs to be checked at the cleanout point (outside the house). Call a plumber. Also have them check for clogged vent stack lines.

Consumer reports recommends "Master Plunger" brand, which has 8 cup water holding capacity. (See...

I guess the question is about the 8 cup water holding capacity?? I don't have a clue about that, but I suppose it is listed in the product description? All I know about this plunger, is that is works very well when I use it properly. I submerge the "bulb" in the backed up water in the toilet, slowly force the air from the "bulb" and then, when the "bulb" is full of water, begin to plunge the enclosed wated into and out of the toilet spces. The return strok creating suction is the most effective and it prepared the clog for the force of the water on the force stroke to have more effect. Seldom does it take more than four or five sets of push and pull to clear the clog. This may be the best plunger I have ever bought as it remains supple and the design helps it apply the full power of the plunger to the clog.

Is there a bowl to set this thing in?

Thanks for your question. This particular plunger does not include a holder. However, Home Depot does offer a version with the plunger holder if you're interested: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Korky-Beehive-Max-Hideaway-Plunger-97-3A/301500866. We had the inexpensive, nice looking plunger that fell apart (split) and had to replace. Figured that we should get one that was more robust so we got this and it really did the job. Note: we kept the brush and station that came with our original decorator styled brush and plunger combo. Perhaps Beehive may want to make a heavy duty combo unit...plunger and brush?

I tried a regular plastic bellows plunger (no flange), hot water, soap, Drano on my clogged elongated 2 month old Kohler toilet... none worked! This worked within a minute of trying... could not believe it was so easy with the "right" tool. I picked this over others available in store because of its rubber construction... that definitely helped get a better seal to make plunging effective. I suppose the "beehive" design was also instrumental.

I literally just bought this plunger at THD about 15 minutes ago--I'm already back home and the horrible clog is cleared! It took about five plunges to clear, although probably three of those were user error and I didn't have a good angle, so let's say two good plunges to clear the clog. I had been working for an hour last night and again this morning to clear it with an old, basic plunger that was doing nothing. BUY THIS!

I tried an old plunger. I tried baking soda and vinegar, I tried dish soap and hot water. Five minutes after walking through the door with this plunger the clog was gone. We have a new Kohler Wellworth 1.28 gpf toilet and as good as it works one extra large system download clogged it. This plunger sealed the opening and unclogged the toilet. Thanks to the two guys at my University Home Depot. They pulled the ladder down the aisle and restocked from the steel shelves. While I was waiting one associate taught me how to properly use my auger. I appreciated both of their willingness to help.

(What's this)
This plunger works. It works in our Kohler Cimmaron 1.28 gallons per flush toilets that do not have a round outlet to the bowl. Other plungers do not seal the outlet, and they take a lot of plunging to dislodge a blockage. This plunger immediately seals the outlet and pushes the liquid out of the bowl. It has a good plastic handle that screws into the base to assemble it. The plastic handle has a horizontal T at the end for pushing and pulling that is handy, and my other plungers do not have that feature. The rubber bottom of the plunger seems to fit into the opening of the bowl and each time you push on it it forces liquid out of the bowl, so that after five pushes the bowl is empty, and even before that the clog is moved along. The rubber bottom is black, which doesn’t show dirt or anything on the rubber. I would prefer a red color like my other plungers, or any color that would show a substance on the rubber so that I could be aware of it and clean it off. This plunger works.

(What's this)
This beehive shaped toilet plunger seals very well against a toilet bowl opening and is a lot more effective and efficient at unclogging toilets than an old style red rubber cup shaped toilet plunger that I had previously used for many years. The rubber cup of a red rubber cup shaped plunger often rolls inside out after each downward plunge stroke and often needs to be restored to its cup shape manually by dragging the cup against the inside of the toilet bowl before it can be used to plunge again. When a clogged toilet is on the verge of overflowing there is not always a lot of time to unclog it while having to fuss with a sometimes unreliable cup shaped toilet plunger. This beehive shaped toilet plunger displaces a lot more volume to unclog a toilet faster then a red rubber cup shaped plunger can due to its large beehive shape . This beehive shaped toilet plunger also reverts back to its original beehive shape quickly after each downward plunge stroke unlike the red rubber cup shaped plunger that often does not. Like it that this beehive toilet plunger has a plastic 'T' shaped handle that can be gripped easier and can also be sanitized after each use. This is versus a porous wood handle that was used on some old style red rubber cup toilet plungers that are not as easy to grip and can also host harmful bacteria, mold, etc..

(What's this)
This korky beehive plunger is easy and effective to use. At first I was like this thing isn't going to work. It felt flimsy and didn't weigh much. I put it to use and worked like a charm. I was amazed how little effort it took to unclog the toilet. I didn't include a photo of the clogged toilet bowl, due to its graphic display. I did include a few pictures on the plunger.
