If one side is fixed can I modify it to open like dual doors?
Both doors are able to open. The right (inactive) door comes with a flush bolt for securing the door in the closed position.
Does this hybrid core material deaden sound?
Yes, the hybrid core does help to reduce sound.
Can these doors be modified to use ball catch at top with dummy handles? Since the door comes with a top latch and astragal would we remove these things? And cover up the strike cutouts?
No. The astragal and flushbolts are not removable. You need to order the double active door if you'd like ball catches and dummy handles. What kind of door hardware would be good for these doors? What "backset" would the latch need to be?
Back set is 2-3/8" Any standard door handle should work for this door. It will come with the hinges.
Will the fix side lock in place? Does this door have a center jamb so no one can peak through?
This door comes with a flush bolt to hold the non-active door in place. It has a t-astragal on it but not a center jamb.
I know you can reverse the door - but if you reverse an outswing woukdnt it become an in-swing? Thanks.
