I’ve never used a solvent to remove caulk. I’ve always used a razor blade and/or a caulk removal tool, but this method oftentimes would leave behind small remnants. I used this product on the bottom of a shower door where it connects to the fiberglass. I’ve re-caulked this area before, but I’ve never been able to release any of the caulk on the underside of shower trim. This gel-like solution seeped under the trim and loosened that caulk. I was able to grab it and pull it out. This method is messier than the old school method, but it gets caulk that you may not have been able to get to before.

First of all, I was worried about using this product on my fiberglass show, as the packaging specifically did not mention fiberglass. I tested it in a small area, and was relieved to find it did not damage the finish. I have a 2 piece shower stall and tub. The middle seam running the length of the tub was caulked years ago with a latex caulk that had become very moldy. I scored the old caulking before applying the Krudcutter for maximum penetration. I then applied the Krudcutter with a rag and let it sit for 20 minutes. I found the caulking softer and more pliable after the application of Krudcutter, which made removing it with a utility knife much easier. Now Krudcutter does not just dissolve the stuff away (which would be very cool, but would probably eat thru anything it touched at that point), but I was able to scrape it out of the groove much easier than before. Still takes some patience, but I was pleased with the way Krudcutter performed and would recommend.

I purchased this product because it was advertised as a product for removing silicon caulk, but it didn't remove anything. I got the most bang out of cleaning vinegar, but there is still a thin crust of cured silicon that even cleaning vinegar wouldn't remove. This product is mainly acetone (nail polish remover). As a result, it is more useful for removing oil based paint. I returned the product the next day for a refund.

Oh no, this is not what we like to hear! Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Caulk Remover is specially formulated to aid in the removal of caulks and sealants from various surfaces. For best results scrape, cut or pull away any caulk that can easily be removed, score the edge of the remaining caulk. Thoroughly saturate the caulk with Krud Kutter, allowing to soak for 20 minutes or until the caulk loosens. Some applications may require longer soaking depending on the type and amount of caulk to remove. Give us a call at 800-466-7126 so we can hear more about your experience and try to make things right.

I like the idea of a caulk remover but the spray bottle just turned into a nightmare. I started spraying then realized that the stuff got everywhere so I quickly cleaned it up but it wasn't needed. The gel or whatever this stuff is didn't go too deep. I'm all for trying things to get caulk or grout up and out of areas it shouldnt be in but this was more effort than it was worth.

Let's talk through this! For the best results with Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Caulk Remover with dried caulking, scrape, cut, or pull away any caulk that can be easily removed and score the edge of remaining caulk first. Than thoroughly saturate the caulk with the product. Allow it to soak for 5 to 20 minutes or until the caulk loosens. Keep in mind that some applications may require longer soaking depending on the type and amount of sealant to remove. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Krud Kutter 24 OZ. CAULK REMOVER (6 PACK) is biodegradable and low odor (VOC). It is not recommended for use on painted or varnished finishes. You can use it to remove fresh caulk, but we used it to remove very old bathroom caulk that had several types of caulk used on it over the years. You must remove as much as you can and then score the remaining old caulk before you use Krud Kutter 24 OZ. CAULK REMOVER. It is a gel solution and we had to use it several times to remove all our old caulk. Ventilation is advised although it is low odor. It was a tedious job, but we are very satisfied with the results.

This caulk remover works very well, it is a little labor intensive as you will need to spray and wipe a couple of times to remove caulk. I'm using it around my replacement windows to remove caulk that has turned black and looks bad. After it dries I re-caulk around the windows then the windows look great again. You will want to have plenty of rags handy for wiping the old caulking.
