Exactly what I needed to meet simple requirements 1.) Fashionable 2.) Easy to install 3.) Doesn't show fingerprints on its matte finish (even grubby 3 year old prints) 4.) Durable - It's made of strong durable materials The easy-to-open cardboard box comes with all the materials you need for your doorset no matter the set plate (or lack of one) with easy to follow instructions. All in all - it took me less than 5 minutes to remove my old door knob, add the new one and switchout my keys. If you've never installed a doorknob before - don't let that stop you! All you need is a phillips head screw driver and a few minutes of your time. My tips: 1. Use a traditionally screwdriver vs a combination type due to the awkward angle 2. Don't let the door close if you only have the latch installed. If you don't have the handle on your side it can be challenging to impossible to open the door! (pays to have a friend or tape over the catch your first time 3. Enjoy - it's 4 screws on the main door and 2 on the wall. Easiest home improvement project ever!

It was a pleasure remove that awful and cheap builder’s grade entry door lock and handle to this beautiful, dark and steiking entry doorknob. This is the most secure feature that i have ever seen. I, also, feel secure knowing that the handle is so strong in the locked position. Plus, the dark color makes the door pop alongside everything else about the house. Just think, I was going to change the entire door frame and replace the door. Tsk tsk, when all it needed was a kwikset!

I only use Kiwkset for my door handle needs for two reasons: Smart key and their warranty. The Smart key is super easy to use – you can key all your exterior doors, by yourself, to the same key. No need for a locksmith. Kwikset warranty is fabulous. If you have any issues with the product, such as a finish fading, you contact them and they send you a replacement. I got this handle for the door to my garage. I wanted a dark handle to ‘blend in’ and this fit the bill. It was easy to install, but I did have to chisel out a little of the wood, so the latch would catch. Well, the first couple of times I was closing the door, it scratched the latch plate (see pictures). Though Kwikset has a fabulous warranty this concerns me that I may be replacing this handle often due to issues with the finish. I knocked off a star because of this potential issue.

Kwikset Pismo Round Iron Black Exterior Entry Door Knob Featuring SmartKey Security The door knob comes nicely packaged and right out of the box it gave me a great impression, the Matte Iron Black finish looks outstanding. The installation is no different from another door knob so it is fairly easy, I replaced the garage door knob since the door is white this color gave it a nice contrast to it. I had no problems with it since it was a perfect fit from the old one to the new and this one looks modern and cool. As for the nice feature of the SmartKey, to be able to use my older key to this knob is an excellent idea since carrying a lot of keys is not convenient. Also with the instructions there is an online access for help in the installation or the rekeying of the knob, I did not use it since I think the instructions with illustrations was pretty clear. Overall: it is of good quality with nice features and looks great.

To start with, we replaced an older builder grade door knob that just looked and felt cheap. Our new Kwikset looks and feels solid and comfortable in your hand. The new lockset was easy to install. The most difficult part was removing the old door handle! We needed only a screwdriver for the installation of the Kwikset, as all other hardware was included. Although the kit included 2 keys, a great feature of the Kwikset is the ability to “re-key” the lock to fit your existing keys. This saved us the time and money from having to have extra keys cut. The process to re-key was simple. Great look, great feel, easy installation, ability to re-key, and a great price make the Kwikset Pismo Exterior Entry Door Knob the perfect choice.

I just installed this door knob last week. Extremely easy installation, replaced an old indoor knob that was being used on the exterior door in about 10 minutes start to finish. All pieces needed are included, such an an extended if you need, the instructions, screws, and the plates for the latches. Over all this went together very easy and effortlessly. I have had no issues with the key being stuck either. Great product and love the solid black look on the exterior of the home.

KWIKSET PISMO ROUND IRON BLACK EXTERIOR ENTRY DOOR KNOB FEATURING SMARTKEY SECURITYis one of the best door knob I ever had. It took me to replace old knob and put this one in with in 15 mintues. It was very easy process. This door knob is very smooth and it works with little turn. Its black mat color is quite pretty. I used it for a month and it performs as it was very first time it was installed. Key works nice and smooth and lock also works smoothly. There is nothing more I want from this.

Lock comes with everything you need to install except the tools if putting it in a new door. I love the finish of the lock. Lock comes with two keys and the new SmartKey. While I haven't had the chance to test or play with the SmartKey part of this, the instructions look pretty straightforward, allowing you to change the key to the lock with a new key.

Kwikset 740PSK Entry lock set. I've installed 100's of door knobs/handles and I feel that Kwikset is the easiest to install. The Kwikset Smartkey makes it even easier to re-key. This is a Pismo series knob. The handle is a flat cylinder with iron black matte finish. The bezel is slightly larger than the handle, but is similar in style and also had the same finish. The Smartkey system allows the user to change from one key to another via the change tool. You only need the original key and the new key - no locksmith or special re-keying tools are needed. A great invention! Installation is a breeze. Remove the old set including the strike. Install the new set - requires only a phillips screwdriver. One tip, do not over-tighten any of the screws. You don't want to warp any of the parts - they won't move properly - I've done it in the past! This knob set has a nice solid feel. The handle turns smoothly and returns to the original position via springs - again a nice smooth operation. The knob is a modern style and the Iron Black finish looks great. I think it looks particularly great when mounted to a nice dark wood door - see my photo below. Only one complaint. The finish shows fingerprints. It's going to be a challenge keeping the parts looking good. I gave this knob set a 5 star rating, due to the aesthetics, function, Smartkey re-keying system, good solid feel in hand and the quality of the manufacture.
