I liked the look but didn't like the "Smart" features or the design
A quality construction for a lock. Real heavy metal parts on the finish and the install of the bolt gives two mounting styles (face plate or slide bolt only) as well as supporting 2-3/8 backset and 2-3/4.
I chose the Premis for the stylish touchscreen - not so much for the Apple connectivity. That seems to be the downfall of this lock; setup of the lock pretty much requires having Apple HomeKit or you have to go through a lengthy manual process of setting the lock access codes.
The install of the hardware itself was not bad and everything was included. Then it came time to install the batteries. That is when I discovered that you have to remove the inside cover to access the battery pack. This is also necessary to reset the lock (power cycle).
While this might make the lock a little more secure (even though it is on the inside of the door, also is the thumb latch) because you have to remove 3 screws, everything to defeat the lock is behind that cover.
Then the real pain is if you have a regular door knob below the deadbolt - most of us do; well you can't easily access the bottom screw to the Premis cover. It's also a problem accessing the other screws if you have other trim/mullion in the near vicinity of the Premis (see photos). Each time you have to change the batteries you have to remove these 3 screws - not fun.
Again, I wanted the lock for the touch screen keypad and not the smart features but it is a shame that Kwikset didn't work with other smart home technologies and chose to only "like" Apple.

Smart door locks have improved a lot.
I owned a first generation smart door lock and eventually threw it away because I was tired of all the glitches. This Premis smart lock shows that they've improved a lot in the last couple of years.
Making a confusing first impression, the package didn't include any printed installation instructions. I downloaded them from the Kwikset web site and later discovered that the Premis IOS app has a neat set of animated installation instructions built in. Do yourself a favor install the Premis app before installing the door lock. Installation went smoothly, especially since I was replacing a previous Kwikset deadbolt and didn't have to replace the deadbolt mechanism.
Pairing with Bluetooth was quick once I discovered the "QR" screen in the app actually wanted the number printed on the included Quick Setup card and not the square code block to its right.
I turned off auto-lock since experience with a previous smart door lock showed that it leads to damaged door casing if it decides to auto-lock while the door is being closed. I really like the Siri voice control to lock and unlock the door. Note that Siri requires that the iPhone have a passcode before performing security operations.
I don't have Apple TV, so am using the app with just Bluetooth connectivity. I have no problem with the Bluetooth range - it works from my garage to the basement. When I boot up my iPhone in the morning, Siri is confused about the lock state - it thinks it's in whatever state I ask Siri to establish. Asking a second time fixes the problem. The app itself correctly indicates the locked or unlocked state.
The app works well and has lots of features. You can set up to 30 user codes, limiting them by date, time, or frequency. Individual codes can be disabled and enabled. For extra security all user codes can be disabled or enabled with one switch.

Works Great
It was pretty simple to install. I had to enlarge my hole a bit because the original hole wasn't cut perfectly. I put in the adapter ring because the hole was larger that 1 1/4". If I didn't have to enlarge the hole, I would have installed it in a few minutes. When you install the batteries, it need to check that it functions properly by looking at the touch screen and looking for an illuminated check. Paper instructions are not included, but you can find them on the iPhone app or online.
You need to download the Kwikset Premis app from the Apple app store. You enter the code that came with the lock and it adds it to your Apple Home app on your iphone or ipad. You hold your phone near the lock and it syncs it.
I can unlock and lock my door with using SIri. And with the Apple TV 4th generation, you can check your lock, unlock, and lock from anywhere in the world. Also, it lets me know on my phone when someone unlocks or locks the door.
You can enter in different key codes so you know who is coming and going if they use the code. Also, it is a smart key lock so you can change the key anytime. I did this because I still have a lock on the door handle and didn't want to have 2 keys.

Very cool idea.
Installed in about 15 or 20 minutes. Coded, Apple app ready to go, rekeyed to the other locks on my doors. Watched the video on HD product page and it was a cinch. Great looking, easy to install and works. You do need an Apple phone in order to utilize all the extras and an Apple TV box for remote location operations . I do not have an Apple TV set yet but phone will do. It works well with Siri to lock and unlock. It utilizes blue tooth to use with Apple app. It you don't have Apple TV you can't use remotely, just inside the house and short distance outside the house.. The range is only as far as range of Blue Tooth in the house without Apple TV.. I can open or lock door in the general living area but it will not reach to the back of the house or in the front of the house. It may be just my set up at the house so it maybe my problem and not the lock's problem due to no Apple TV setup.I can live with that. We rekeyed our house keys by watching a video on You Tube so we won't need 2 different sets of keys for different locks. The keypad lights up very brightly while entering code. Codes were easy to set up. Will buy another one for the garage door. The finish matches our oiled rubbed bronze door handles perfectly. Smaller than a lot of the others I have seen. I am glad I ordered it.

Great Lock
I got my first touchscreen deadbolt a few years ago and after using this one I can see they've come a long way in looks and functionality. This lock looks great and is very compact compared to what I've owned in the past. It works via bluetooth and not wifi so you are limited to remotely controlling it by being in bluetooth range unless you have an Apple TV. That gives you remote access if you are away. For me that's the only drawback. It has a smooth, glass-like touchscreen which is prone to fingerprints however there is an optional security feature that requires you to press two random numbers before entering your passcode to allow for fingerprints to collect on all the numbers, which helps prevent someone from guessing your code based on frequently pressed numbers. I have two other locks similar to this but they have matte touch screens which don't show fingerprints. That's a better idea, in my opinion, but this lock looks nicer with the glass screen as long as it's clean. It was very easy to install and set up with the app. You can lock and unlock it with the app and using Siri, which is a great feature.

Original one we purchased about 10 years ago decided it had had enough. Considered switched to a more costly one that worked with nfc. Very glad i did'nt spend the extra funds as this one works just as well with siri. Using the Home app its a simple voice command to have the lock open or close with a short cut right on my phone. Works wonderfully and extremely happy with it. Another plus is it was a direct drop in with all existing hardware already installed on door.

I paid someone to put it in now I have to pay someone to take it out and put a new one in. Let alone the trouble of having to get a new one! Do NOT buy!

Have had this lock for a few weeks and it...
Have had this lock for a few weeks and it works pretty well. Wish it had thread so that it was quicker to respond. Sometimes the key pad does not unlock the door though I input the correct code. When that happens I push the lock icon and re-enter the code and it works.
Overall very happy with the locks functions and looks.

Classy, Convenient, and Easy to Install
Recently I upgraded from non-smart Kwikset cipher locks to this lock. The installation is simple and straightforward, keying is simple as well, and the Kwikset app guided me through the process of connecting the lock to my IoT WiFi network. Installation took about 20 minutes including configuring the Kwikset app to work with Apple HomeKit. The lock fit and finish is on par with other Kwikset locks. My only gripe is that the touch pad can be a little finicky, particularly when the weather is humid. I would have preferred physical buttons but that is a minor quibble.

Easy install, Homekit setup, looks good and secure
Super easy to set up with Homekit via Bluetooth. The app works well on iPhone. The lock looks great and is well made. The hardware seems secure and strong. Siri control is flawless using iphone, Apple Watch or Carplay. Excellent value and performance.
