Q:outside air coming into the attic thru the ridge vents

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Gennifer from Lomanco here. It is possible if you have a power vent and a ridge vent on your home they could work against one another and possibly pull in air from one of the two instead of pushing exhaust out the way it is intended to work. You want only one TYPE of exhaust vent within a common attic area. Exhaust vents pull air from the easiest intake source. The use of two or more types of exhaust vents such as Power Vents with Roof Vents, Ridge Vents with Gable Vents, or any combination of exhaust louvers can make one of these vents act as intake for the other. Intake air should come from the soffit vent area to properly ventilate the total attic area and eliminate weather infiltration. Exactly what I needed.
Being aluminum it was comparable with the new aluminum roof I was having installed. At 800CFM it moves just the right amount of air. Larger 1500 CFM fans tend to pull air from the living area unless there is a lot of intake area around the soffits. Metal could be a little thicker.

        Good Product
Gets the job done. It was the only object on my roof not dented from the hail storm.
