      Answer This Question

To staple trim boards to the outside of an LG SmartSide shed door, would I be better off using 1" staples or something like 2d 1" Roofing nails? I need to go through the 3/8" SmartSide and into 3/4" trim boards on the outside so length has to be < or= 1"

This was really easy to put up -- like the 4 x 6 panels. Need to paint it next! Great run in shed exterior for my horses

This siding was a one piece that matched the colors of the area I sealed after removing the Saggy and Drafty kitchen window. Was simple and easy to erect and install.

We are very pleased with this. We are using it instead of drywall in our basement. Much easier and much cleaner without all the drywall dust. Paints well too.

I really like this siding - paints well - looks great on finished products. I will very happily give it 5 stars when I find out how well it weathers. I've painted both sides and all cuts -we will see.

        Painting the panels
Five sheets arrived yesterday. One was damaged, probably from the forklift. I called Home Depot online and I was credited for the one sheet. Painting information is for the remaining four sheets. I started painting immediately. I'm using Behr Ultra Premium Outdoor Satin paint, white. I am painting both sides as this is going to be the replacement sides of a garbage unit we' built 15 years ago. The T1-11 was rotting out and I plan to replace the sides with this siding. There is a knack for painting the grooves. I loaded my roller (HD green for smooth/semi smooth), affixed it to basically a heavy duty broom handle, and pushed down as I rolled. This created a large bead of paint that I pushed through the grooves. I painted across the grain at the top and bottom, then reversed to match the grain. The reverse took the paint better than I thought it would. I thought I would be painting over a resin and it would not stick but it's fine. Four sheets, front and back will take at least 1.5 gallons, for 1 coat. The front is looking like it needs a light second coat . The satin finish is looking shiny and a bit pearly. The boards are laying down so maybe this will change when they are upright. I will post a finished project picture in a few weeks. No one has shown what the rear side of the board looks like so I am supplying that.

          Our chicken coop is beautiful
I used this product on top of particle board for our chicken coop and painted it white. I’ve worked with it before on a vertical project, but I actually prefer how it looks and functions when installed horizontally. The seams lined up easily, both between panels and at the corners, which made the installation straightforward and gave a clean, finished look.
