It is brightly lit at all times. The option to plug the main unit into 120volt power means we don't have to constantly change batteries. The large temperature display makes it easy for my elderly grandmother to read. I would recommend this product to my friends and family.

This new La Crosse indoor/outdoor, clock, and day-date thermometer was the easiest to set up and program of anything I have ever had to program! I like the battery backup if the power goes out for the main unit, as it does around here every several weeks. Also love the different colored time & temp. numbers as they are large and easy to read at a distance.
