The primer recommended by Lanco Customer Service won’t adhere to spray polyurethane foam. As for the bubbling, if it’s the foam itself, there’s an underlying reason for the blisters. If there’s a coating on it that’s bubbling, it is likely due to trapped moisture. Either way, coating alone won’t fix it and don’t be led to believe that the primer will adhere to foam.
I did not have it shaken but did mix it up with a paddle during use.
This is exactly what I did. Regret comes in many forms. This is one of the bigger ones. The product did the job and the roof was sealed and was very reflective. It worked too well apparently, because it literally SEALED the roof on the mobile home...the roof has had been leaking, and thus had lots of moisture inside. Now sealed, that moisture was trapped and pretty much all the wood sheathing under the shingles rotted at once and I had to replace the whole roof just 3 years later. DO NOT DO THIS!!! Here's what I recommend and it'll only be a little more money and work. Have some quality metal roofing cut and delivered and put a metal roof on...save yourself the emergency of having virtually your whole roof go bad at once and needing to come up with a solution immediately or risk losing your house...like I did. The metal roof will last many, many years and if you want to coat it with an elastomeric like this, it'll be better for it, not worse. I understand the thinking...all too well...this one's on me. Good luck.
Roofer's Choice is a solvent-based product containing asphalt among other solvent carriers. If it is old and cured, dried out, cracking, and faded from black to a gray-ish color, it's safe conclusion that Ultra Siliconizer will adhere once the entire surface has been cleaned per product label instructions. If the Roofer's Choice product is less than 12 months old, you may experience adhesion issues. Products like that cure faster in subtropical and hot arid environments than they will in more northern climates where less UV exposure can extend its cure time.
yes
I believe not as it is a roof sealer. It goes,on blue and dries white, it is also very thick therefore would be hard to mix in the colour.
I think it would work fine that way, as long as you clean it for a good bond. we thought we had a great day with the first coat and ended up with rain. we scrambled to cover it but it did get wet before covering, and ran a bit. Second coat went on well. It has held up very well in the past year, through a rough winter, we are glad to have used this product.
It depends on the humidity and outside temperature , I put mine down when it was 70 degrees and it dried enough to walk on in 1.5 hours .
Yes, once all loose gravel has been removed by rake, vacuum, shovel, and/or broom. Coating loose gravel is not recommended as the product will only be adhered to the gravel and not the roof deck. The smoother the surface, the closer you can get to completing the job at the prescribed 2 coats at 50 square feet per gallon in each coat. The more texture there is, the more material required to coat properly.
Hi Lewis, yes the Lanco Ultra Siliconizer Reflective Roof Coating can be used on metal roof. The surface needs to be completely free of rust, dirt and mildew. Prepare the surface with Lanco Aqua-Proof primer(available at The Home Depot), letting it dry for 24 hours, this will assure the perfect bonding of Ultra Siliconizer to the surface. Then apply two coats of Lanco Ultra Siliconizer and let it dry 24 hours between coats.
