Questions & Answers

Does the level of noise sound like a vaccum cleaner?

Can I talk on the phone near this unit? Will it be annoying near the TV? Does it sound like a vacuum cleaner?
Asked by: Shelly
Because it is a squirrel-cage fan, it is extremely quiet. It blows a very tight air-stream that can be directed many feet away.

Can you use an extension cord?

I want to use this fan in my garage, but I don't have electricity running to it. Can it be plugged in to an extension cord, like one of the big orange ones?
Asked by: faye
Yes, but the extension cord needs to able to carry the current of anything that is plugged into the fans outlets. I would go with at least a 14 gauge (or lower) extension cord.

How many watts or amps does this fan use? I want to use it with an inverter on my work van.

Asked by: mechanic
The label says 1.4 amps, so 120V x 1.4 = 168 watts.

Can this be used to exhaust hot air in 90F in garage from server hardware and will it pull hot air and exhaust it?

Asked by: brans
I do not know; I do own this fan; Looking at it's design it pulls air in the sides and then blows that air out the front; So I do believe it would work exhausting air out of your hot garage.

Customer Reviews

Pro-Performance High Velocity Pivoting Blower Fan is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 426.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Escape From Meltdown I work as a singer at Florida beach bars - ALL year long. This is the best money spent all year. The first thing I do after setting up in 90°+ heat now is sit down in front of this little wonder and cool my body core down. This is not for passing a minor breeze around a group of people - it is for keeping one person from dropping from heat prostration. It delivers an aimed, concentrated blast of air in one direction. I use it outdoors and it is a life-saver! It increases productivity by taking your mind off miserable levels of heat. It can literally keep you from sweating away all your fluids. For me - this is not a luxury item. FIVE STARS for a truly unique product! PS - it also blows away mosquitoes too ,-]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase for the summer in Texas! A couple of years ago I had the smaller Stanley-branded version of this Lasko fan. It was yellow and black and didn't quite match the decor of my home, but oh boy that fan moved some air! It eventually broke after being dropped several times and I decided to get a new one this year to combat the Texas summer heat! I was glad to see that they moved away from the obnoxious colors and went to a sleeker black and grey model. Larger, more powerful and moves even more air! Forget the tower fans with the fancy remotes or oscillating features, this blower will exceed your expectations. Family members that stop by are literally blown away at how powerful this machine is and always ask where I found/bought it! A little pricey but worth every penny! Get you one or 3!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't do without it- saving me lots of money With hot, summer days, we found that one of best ways to cut down on air conditioning costs is to have a high quality and powerful fan to draw the air from the cool basement and push it upstairs. The claim that this is a high velocity pivoting fan was just what we needed to do the job. We are very pleased with the volume of air which the fan throws upstairs and our upstairs is much cooler than having to run our more expensive air conditioner. Buying in this fan has been one of the best investments we have ever made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Hot Air Here The Lasko pivoting blower fan is a handy solution for air movement on a hot day or as an air drying unit for leaks and spills. The unit is light, very portable, has a long power cord and provides 3 different blowing speeds to match your situational needs. It runs quietly and smoothly, has no vibration and the squirrel cage air discharge head easily rotates about 250 degrees with 20 click stops for perfect positioning. To the left side plate are 2 10amp fused outlets to plug in tools or additional fans, saving on extension cords and trip hazards. It may reside in my work shop, but will get used all around the house!

The first one I’ve had for about a year with no issues so far. The second one was for a friend who is a school bus mechanic who needed the directional flow of air while in and outside of the bus. He absolutely loves it! This fan is heavy duty and the pivoting head is not only great for cooling off but also for drying wet floors and carpet after cleaning and for speeding up the paint drying process. It’s also nice that it’s compact enough to fit under a desk or to move from room to room without any trouble. I probably won’t ever buy a different type of fan again so please keep these in stock!

I came across an electrician using one of these fans on a job site I was working on and found it to put out a decent amount of concentrated air for it's size. Needless to say the room that we were working in didn't have air conditioning but this thing sure saved the day. I was so impressed that I went out and bought one for myself to keep in my trailer for those times where we are working in warm locations. I bought a second one to put in my shop to direct air conditioning in to a new addition that tends to stay a little bit warmer than the rest of the building. It works great, moves a great deal of air, and is pretty quiet while running. I might just have to add a third one for the house!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moves a LOT of air quietly I had a competitor's blower that failed in 10 months. The Lasko blower is higher capacity (moves MUCH more air) but is almost silent. We use this inside our house to assist the air conditioner. Just place it in a corner (perhaps hidden under an end table) and aim it parallel to the floor. Superior to a traditional fan for room circulation. The Lasko web site shows many models, but does not give the CFM (cubic feet per minute) ratings. How can you make an educated decision without this info?? A call to Lasko Customer Service gave me the specs for several models. Home Depot also sells a smaller competitor's blower. I would guess that the Lasko blower on low is equivalent to the smaller blower on high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saving on the heating bill. We have hot water heat in our home. The kitchen is the largest room and has the least amount of floor boards. And also has the thermostat that controls two other rooms. The furnace has a hard time trying to get the kitchen up to the set temperature. Meanwhile the other two rooms are boiler room hot. We use the air mover to blow the hot air from the hottest room into the kitchen. Last year we used two standard fans and had two months where the heating bill was over $500. This year with the air mover (without the two standard fans), the highest bills were $280 and $356. Of course we still have February, but the air mover has already paid for itself and saved us money on the heating bills. It is also very quiet considering the amout of air it is moving.
