Product Overview

  • Fills, seals driveways; up to 400 sq. ft. per pail
  • One-coat formula; polymer fortified for strength, longevity
  • EZ-stir, non-skid, low-VOC formula creates a beautiful surface
The Latex-ite Airport Grade Driveway Filler Sealer is an asphalt emulsion-based low-VOC formula designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway. This non-skid sealer fills hairline cracks (1/8 in. or less) and is polymer fortified for added durability. Helpful hints before you seal your driveway: 1) Purchase an extra pail: any unused portion can be saved for touch-ups (running out during the project may result in color variations). 2) Flip pails overnight prior to application (it will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency). 3) Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 4) Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecasted and it is at least 55 degrees F at night (a cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 5) Check latexite.com for further tips and how-to videos. (Please note: if product is not available to order in your area, it is due to nighttime temperatures.).
  • Coverage on smooth/previously sealed driveways: 400 to 500 sq. ft.
  • Coverage on rough/porous or unsealed driveways: 300 to 400 sq. ft.
  • Remember: clean your driveway thoroughly so sealer will bond, and make sure you do not seal when it is cold outside; it must be at least 55 degrees at night for sealer to properly cure and last
  • Do not seal in early spring or late fall as the sealer will not last - it will not cure properly and may track
  • Ideal for sealing hairline cracks in asphalt/blacktop driveways and walkways
  • Polymer fortified for strength and flexibility
  • EZ-stir, non-skid formula saves time during application
  • Low-VOC, coal tar-free formula is easy to clean up with soap and water
  • Backed by 4-year warranty - not prorated
  • Assurance: we stand behind our warranty - it is not prorated
  • California residents see Prop 65 WARNINGS

small spots you can try some dish soap or simple green and scrub. Also power washing. There is a primer I think this brand sells. It looks like milk and you can put it on with a paintbrush.

4.75 Gal. Airport Grade Asphalt Driveway Filler Sealer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 502.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst sealer, worthless warranty, worst customer service. I prepped/power washed my driveway and applied Latexite Airport Grade Sealer during the first week of September 2014, letting it dry for 3 days before and after application. I had the driveway replaced in 2011 and this was the first coat of sealer ever applied to it. When the snow and ice melted away in March we noticed over half of the sealer was gone as well. This has never happened with other brands I have used during the 21 years I have lived here in Grand Rapids, MI. I called, left a voicemail, and received a call back 2 days later telling me to complete a warranty form from their website. About 10 days later I received an email telling me that I should have power washed my driveway first, something I had already told them. They offered to replace the 10 buckets I used on my 3100' sq.ft. driveway. I replied to the email asking for a refund and have been calling their phone number. No response for almost a week so far. They don't answer their phone. Voicemail only. Very Poor customer service.

Just turn it upside down the day prior to use and you are basically all set when you open it to use it the following day. Applying it was also a breeze. I did find it helpful to watch the video on the Home Depot web site on how to apply. My only issue was I underestimated by about 10 to 50 percent how many containers I would need to buy. For the driveway that already had been previously sealed, I underestimated the amount needed by about 10 to 15 percent. However, for the driveway that had not been sealed for over 20 years that also had large cracks, I needed about twice as much filler. I also used the Latex-ite1 Gal. 2X Premium Blacktop Crack Filler on that driveway to fill in the large cracks. BTW, the price on HomeDepot.com showed $24.95 but when I came to the store I was pleasantly surprised to see the store was selling each container for $19.95.

I bought this last year (Approx 8 months ago) The only redeeming quality to this product is that it is black in color. I followed the instructions to the letter and even went beyond. 1st I pressure cleaned the driveway to remove dirt and any loose debris. 2nd scrubbed drive way cleaner/degreaser into the surface with a broom 3rd presure cleaned off the cleaner/degreaser 4rd repaired any cracked or defects. 4th presure cleaned again 5th made sure driveway was dry and temperature was 80 degress Driveway looked really nice when i finished, and did not drive no it for 3 days Now approx 8 months ago large areas have peeled off. The driveway now looks like it never been sealed. This product does not in any way live up to its advertised quality. It garbage DO NOT BUY it!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to apply Our house is new so the driveway has never had a seal coat. With a new driveway we lucked out and only had to ensure that all dirt and debris were cleared since there were no repairs to make. Our driveway is 960 square feet and 7.5 buckets were required to complete the job. We only got approximately 125 to 150 square feet of coverage per bucket given all of the pores that are characteristic of a new driveway. We took the advice from other reviewers and left the buckets upside down overnight and bought a mixing bit for our drill which worked great. It was very easy to apply with the squeegee and we instantly got compliments from our neighbors. The couple of splash marks that we got on our sidewalk came off with a bristle brush and water within the first hour or two after application. I would imagine that the next application would yield the square-footage as advertised on the bucket since all of the pores are now filled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coverage is the only issue. I have a 1,500 sg ft driveway. Simple math says at 350 sq ft per bucket, I would need a little over 4 buckets to complete the job. So just to be safe, I bought 6 buckets. I went through those and had to go back to Home Depot to get two more buckets. Overall, I used a little over 7 buckets for this job. That's more like 210 sq ft per bucket. Granted, this was the first time this driveway has been sealed since it was installed new about 2 1/2 years ago. Don't get me wrong. This is a great product. The driveway looks great. Application was easy and uniform throughout. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Just be aware of the coverage issue and be prepared to stir, stir, stir. (As a hint, manually stirring those buckets will wear you out. A neighbor gave me one of those metal paint stir things that I hooked up to my electric drill. That worked incredibly well. A word to the wise, get one of those things and use it.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SAVE YOUR MONEY I bought four buckets of this stuff from HD last night and tonight I'm returning two for a refund. I began spreading the sealer this morning with the squeegee and it spread easily and seemed to fill hairline cracks nicely.. I'm guessing the bucket covered about 375 SF of a previously coated driveway. As the sealer began to dry, I noticed that it seemed to be blotchy, i.e., black with various patches in shades of gray. And yes, I did intermix and stir the buckets. The more it dried, the more the color variations became apparent. It appeared I wasn't getting enough material on with the squeegee, so for the second bucket I used an 18" brush with 3/4" bristles. This applicator produced a much better result, but the coverage decreased to about 200 SF per bucket. In conclusion, this sealer will not cover 400-500 SF per bucket... more like 200-250 SF applied with a brush. I'm taking my refund from the two buckets and adding $38 to have a professional reseal the whole driveway next week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ready for takeoff, but coverage isn't as stated. I used this product to seal a driveway of 7 years old that has never been sealed. A lot of the aggregate was exposed and over all the driveway had turned into a battleship-gray color. The prep step is a MUST, especially for an unsealed driveway. All those depressions have dirt and debris that must be blasted out with a hose. A leaf blower will not do the trick. After the entire driveway was washed and scrubbed with TSP, cracks filled, etc, it was time to seal 24 hours later. My driveway is 1344 square feet, and if I went by their low estimate of unsealed coverage (300 sq ft per pail) I would have only been able to do 2/3rds of it. I bought 7 pails and used 5.5 pails, which gave a yield of only 244 sq ft per pail. I used a squeegee and applied steady downpressure to get one thin coat as directed. The driveway looks like a million bucks now. It dried for foot traffic in 4 hours, and I'm driving on it 48 hours later with no tracking at all. I think proper adherence only happens when the weather is right and if you get all the dirt off the driveway first. So, in summary, it is a good product but buy more than you need. You can always take back the surplus the next day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money I prepped per the product website and also did additional via YouTube. It lasted a year. I don't write bad reviews because to me it's buyer beware. But with the prep time and time to put this product down....20 hrs. (my driveway isn't beyond repair...it's 10 years old). It might have done a little better than water color paint.
