(Note: If product is not available to order in your area that is due to nighttime temperatures. Product may not cure and/or track in late Fall and early Spring applications). Latex-ite 4.75 Gal. Color Grade Blacktop Driveway Filler/Sealer in Dover Grey is the first tinted sealant for blacktop. Color grade is a ready-to-use, low VOC, colored asphalt based sealer designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway with color. Color grade is a durable, tinted filler or sealer that resists hot tire pick-up, chemicals and leaves a non-skid finish. The lighter version Grey or Beige will help reduce heat buildup on your blacktop. For use on exterior blacktop only (previously sealed or unsealed). Not for use on concrete. Not for use on commercial parking lots. Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecast and it is at least 55°F at night (a cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly and may track).
  • Approximately 400 sq. ft. to 500 sq. ft. coverage for good condition, smooth or previously sealed blacktop
  • Approximately 300 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft. coverage for moderate condition, minor cracking or graying blacktop
  • Approximately 200 sq. ft. to 300 sq. ft. coverage for poor condition, rough or unsealed blacktop
  • Coverage will vary based on blacktop condition
  • 2 coats (maximum) must be applied to achieve color uniformity completing each coat in one continuous application to prevent color shading
  • Apply with squeegee (no rollers) - brushes are fine for the edges
  • Remember: clean your driveway thoroughly so sealer will bond and make sure you do not seal when it is cold outside, it must be at least 55° at night for sealer to properly cure and last
  • Do not seal in early spring or late fall as the sealer will not last; it will not cure properly and may track
  • Ideal for sealing hairline cracks in blacktop driveways and walkways with color
  • Durable, low VOC formula
  • Car traffic ready 24 hours minimum, longer dry time recommended in higher humidity or cooler temperatures
  • Wait at least 30-days before rinsing or cleaning, use a mild detergent as needed, areas that have scuffed can be cleaned with soap, water and brush after 30-days, use only a mild or diluted soap or detergent, the use of pressure washers and abrasive cleaners should be limited to avoid sealer failure
  • An annual touch-up may be required in some areas subject to frequent tire traffic
  • Color grade will not work on stamped asphalt
  • For large jobs it's a good idea to use a new 30 Gal. trash can, open and pour in 4 or 5 pails and using a mud flap and drill, mix as this will help you achieve consistent color
  • Achieves lower surface temperatures with lighter color surface and higher reflectivity

        A:  That may work, it took two coats to cover a new asphalt driveway. So you could get various shades with various layers. The grey cooler in the summer.

            Not my first experience with a colored sealer. I had used a different brand twice in the past . Each time the coating looked good for about 8 years. It is about an 80 mile round trip to the distributor for my original sealer so I thought I save the long drive and go with what Home Depot had in stock. Big mistake, after carefully following all directions for prep, temperature and application I waited a full five dry sunny days before driving on it. Tires turned red at first use. Three months later about 40% had washed out. Now, 2 1/2 years later, I still get pink slush anytime I have to plow snow off the driveway. No way would I ever recommend or use this product again!

              The gray color looks like concrete. Light color will not absorb as much heat as basic black sealer will. Fills voids and cracks very well. My driveway is over 20 years old and is exposed to constant freeze / thaw conditions here in Vermont. Only downside is that it's more expensive that traditional black sealer. It's worth every penny for results in picture. I seal every few years and for my 24" X 55" driveway I used 2 1/2 pails. Unsealed driveways will use more as with any sealer.

              Great Stuff
              This Latex-ite Color Grade Sealer is great stuff for bringing your blacktop driveway to life. It goes on easy with a long handle, rubber squeegy (like a large wiper blade for your car). It is not available for pickup in the home depot store. You order it online. This way is better because UPS delivers it to your door or job site which saves you the trouble of getting it out of store into your car, etc. It dries fast, has water cleanup, and comes in three colors. They also provide a mixing tool for your portable drill. Highly recommended.

              I honestly think the can was bad. Totally different color than the previous dover grey I used. Mixed it a very long time to bring pigment up. Very thin, Dried streaky. Will try using a paint roller to even out things. Disappointed since application 2 yrs ago was perfect.
