Product Details

(Note: If product is not available to order in your area that is due to nighttime temperatures. Product may not cure and/or track in late Fall and early Spring applications). The Latex-ite 4.75 Gal. Sand-Mix Driveway Coating is an asphalt emulsion based rubberized formula that contains fillers for traction control for filling hairline cracks in asphalt. It covers up to 400 sq. ft. Helpful Hints before you seal your driveway: 1. Buy an extra pail: Any unused portion Can be saved for touch-ups (You do not want to run out during the project as you might get color variations). 2. Flip pails overnight prior to doing job (It will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency during application). 3. Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 4. Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecast and it is at least 55°F at night (A cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 5. Check Latex-ite.com for further tips and how to videos.
  • 2-year warranty
  • Coverage on smooth/previously sealed driveways 400 sq. ft. to 500 sq. ft.
  • Coverage on rough/porous or unsealed driveways 300 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft.
  • Remember: clean your driveway thoroughly so sealer will bond and make sure you do not seal when it is cold outside, it must be at least 55° at night for sealer to properly cure and last
  • Do not seal in early spring or late fall as the sealer will not last - it will not cure properly and may track
  • 2-hour drying time

Q:Can I mix the Sand Mix and Optimum Sealer to get a thicker coat for a driveway that was poorly done...lots of raveling .......even thinking about adding bags of asphalt...your thoughts

A:  you can exceed the recommended sand to add to the mix. that is what i have been doing for 10 years. just know that it erodes with hard driving and rains and must be redone 1 or 2 times a year. i have a south florida circle drive (about 1500ft) and get away with 3.5 buckets 2 times per year to look best or 5 buckets once per year. most of the sand stays in the cracks for close to a year but loses black luster after 6 months or so. i add about half bag sand to and extra water to each bucket and have an extra bucket to start. regardless of my way or mfg way this stuff does't last long in south flordida. depends on your expectations. but if your driveway is alligatored and cracked like mine is this is as good as you get short of replacing

A:  It is fine for filling a small crack, but not for the surface. Thick coat will come off easily with tire frictions. Several thin and even coat works better. This is my experience and I hope it helps.

A:  Before putting sealer down, I prepped driveway. Filled in cracks and got a bag of asphalt for larger holes. Came out great. The driveway sealer was excellent.

A:  All of the driveway sealer products are compatible and can be mixed. If you are referring bags of cold patch, do not mix them with the sealant as the pebbles will not bond. Trowel patch can be used as a slurry coat on the surface to help fill in the voids...

A:  Sand and other similar products yes but not hot asphalt or cold patch. I think even sand mix hot patch will not set right if adding in this. After new Asphalt is rolled and cooled apply as directed

                        Sand mix driveway sealer
I did my whole driveway with 1 1/2 5 gal cost under 50 bucks for both buckets, and it looks great, only 1 coat ,it covered up the aquaphalt cold patch very well no primer needed, And it also covered up the pli stix I used to fill in cracks, driveway looks great, I used dawn dish soap and a hard scrub brush too clean it, and pressure washed it a few times before I used this driveway sealer,

                          Shrunk a lot
I am going do do a second coat because it shrunk a lot. Other reviewers are correct: On a raw driveway, you only get 200 square feet per bucket. I would not use this or and sealer product without using my drill driven stirrer. Stir and dump on the driveway right away so there is no settling. Picture included. These are commonly used for 5 gallon buckets of paint. Turning the pails over the night probably helps too.

Down one week and product is already breaking down
Driveway was power washed prior to sealing. Mixed and applied product as per mfg instructions. Product has begun separating when rained on and any pressure- shoes, cars, etc., caused the sand to separate from the sealer. Poor product.

                              Inconsistant
What is going on with this product? I opened the buckets and it smelled weird (almost like sewage). The buckets were not filled consistently and some of the product had a pudding consistency and some were watery.

                                Looks good so far!
My driveway is 3600 sq ft and has not had any sealant put on it in over 12 years. After reading the reviews I thought I better buy 20 buckets since the fellow that also had 3600 sq ft said that was how much it took for his driveway. According to the information about the product it said that a driveway that was in rough shape or that had never been sealed each bucket would cover between 300 to 400 sq ft. What I found out as I began applying it is using the brush allows the material to cover correctly and not go on too thick, which allowed me to get about 300 sq ft per bucket. I ended up using 12 buckets to complete the project. A week before I sealed the driveway I bought 6 gallons of 2X Premium Blacktop Crack Filler and filled all the cracks going across the driveway or anywhere I could see a crack. I have never used this product so time will tell if it will crack after the first freeze like all the other ones that I have used through the years. I reapplied several of the cracks after a 24 hour time. I kept one of the extra 4.75 gallon buckets for repair in the event I need to redo a place, but will take the other 7 buckets back tomorrow. I am curious how it will look in a couple of weeks or months. I live in Western NC and I get the evening sun on the hot summer months on most of the driveway, so we will see how it plays out in the future. I will make another statement regarding the product after the first freeze. I forgot to take some before pictures so I put some from last year that I had and it shows where I have patched the cracks, which I have done each summer for many years. After the first freeze they have all crack so far. It took me 3 and 1/2 hours to complete my driveway. I bought a painter's mixture to connect to my drill and I would mix up 2 buckets at a time and then begin by pouring a line of the product across then I would work it in with the brush. I started the project before the sun was overhead and that made it apply much better. I noticed before I finished the sun was making it dry faster and was more challenging to get it out at the same rate. If you have two people it could have been done in 1/2 the time. I waited two days before driving on it, but it was dry to the touch in a couple of hours. I noticed that the 2X crack filler does not harden completely and the tires make imprints in it, so hopefully this will allow for movement when it gets colder without cracking. Will see!

                                  Caused more damage than good
It is very liquid. It immediately formed cracks when dried. By curling up, it even tore up some of my patching. There are better brands out there. I returned this one.

                                    Happy with results
I have a 3600 sqft driveway that was in BAD shape. It may have never been sealed in 15 years. My 20 buckets had a good consistency and mixed easily. The issue i ran into is coverage. The first 4 buckets i used covered just about 450 sqft total - not good. With a squeegee i coujd not get a thin coat due to how rough my driveway is. On the 5th bucket i decided to try a push broom to see if i could get a thinner coat. Bingo problem solved. using the broom i started getting around 200 sqft per bucket. Yes i get some brush marks and i would say it is more effort but it turned out great. In the end i ran out of sealer with about 100 sqft to go. Had i not used the squeegee i would have made it. In my opinion if your driveway is rough and pitted use a broom to spread it. I looking at my 2 section, where i used the squeegee the result is not great. You can see it went on too thick and is cracking. The section with the thin broom coat looks great. I cant speak for durability but the results are good so far.
