Product Details

Today more than ever homes are equipped with important electrical safety devices to help protect people and property. Most prominent are the GFCI Receptacle, which helps protect people from shock or electrocution resulting from ground faults, and the recently introduced AFCI Receptacle to help prevent electrical fires caused by dangerous arcing conditions. Leviton combined these 2 technologies to create the new SmartlockPro Dual Function AFCI/GFCI Receptacle, offering homeowners the assurance of both shock and fire protection in one smart device. The SmartlockPro AFCI/GFCI offers an effective alternative to a DFCI breaker and features the convenience of localized test and reset. It provides clear visual indication of status making it intuitive for users to assess various conditions such as power availability and GFCI self-test status. The device also clearly distinguishes between a trip caused by a ground fault and a trip caused by an arc fault.
  • SmartlockPro dual function AFCI/GFCI receptacle offers a NEC compliant option for GFCI/AFCI protection in residential kitchen and laundry areas for new construction, modifications/extensions and replacement receptacles
  • Device is ideal as a replacement for ungrounded receptacles, satisfying NEC requirements for both AFCI and GFCI protection
  • Test and reset buttons are readily accessible on the face of the device
  • Trip threshold meets or exceeds UL requirements for tripping time on ground faults and on both series and parallel arcs for optimal safety
  • Patented bridge contact design provides individual sets of contacts for receptacle face and downstream receptacles; no power will be delivered to receptacle face if improperly wired (line-load reversed)
  • Improved immunity to high frequency noise reduces nuisance tripping
  • Superior resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages enhancing reliability
  • Status indicator light provides simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status as well as indication of line/load reversal for at-a-glance analysis
  • 1-piece T-design trip latch mechanism provides efficient operation
  • Test and reset button colors match device face offering pleasing aesthetic
  • Impact-resistant thermoplastic cover and body for durability
  • Expanded wiring options with nine back-wire holes (two for each line and load connection plus one for ground with an internal clamp) for easy installation

              Perfect for a retrofit
I bought a steel box, plate, 1/2" offset nipple and a bit of tw90 to run into the breaker and keep it fully covered in grounded metal before the afci. Connected to the NM on the load side once it was in. My breaker is old enough to not have gfci/afci breakers available (for less than $500 each), but new enougj that it works pretty well and I can get non-afci breakers just fine. This receptacle went on easy, has clamps for a nice install with stranded, and works great. After installing I found two lights that no longer work and trip it. This is exactly what I wanted this for, as they were a hazard and now I can fix them. Problems with loose neutrals or neutral-ground connections are extremely hard to find on older circuits without this.

Cost effective solution for old wiring.
The combined functionality is great. I added these to old circuits, that needed both ground fault and arc fault protection -- bringing them up to code. They are less expensive than AFCI/GFI breakers -- especially since standard breakers were already installed in the panel. I mounted them in boxes right next to the main breaker panel. Delivery was fast and convenient. Easy to install. Consider a deep box to make installation easier.

Purchased and installed to provide AFCI and GFCI protection for a replacement garbage disposal per current NEC requirements. The dual function receptacle worked properly for less than 5 days and then began to trip when the new garbage disposal was turned on. Testing the circuit and disposal with a megohmmeter revealed that the branch circuit, switch, and disposal motor were all fine. The problem was clearly a faulty AFCI/GFCI device. I replaced the dual function receptacle with a duplex outlet and installed a dual function AFCI/GFCI circuit breaker in the panel. I should have put in the Siemens dual function circuit breaker in the first place since it provides protection for the entire circuit not just at the receptacle. However, my local Home Depot (Dacula, GA) did not have any Siemens dual function AFCI/GFCI breakers on the shelf because the electrical aisle was just reset to make room for the new Leviton Load Centers. This is not the first faulty Leviton GFCI or AFCI device that I've purchased from Home Depot, but it will definitely be the last. Based on the history of failures that I've seen from Leviton GFCI devices over the years and the poor history that I've witnessed from the Leviton AFCI devices there is no way that I'll be risking my money or reputation by installing a Leviton Load Center. I might be able to get a refund from Home Depot for the Leviton AFCI/GFCI outlet, but what about my time spent on a warranty? Certainly I can't bill my customer to repair something that they just paid to have repaired less than a week ago. Who's going to pay for licensed contractors to go back to customer's homes and replace faulty AFCI devices? @Leviton where can I send the bill for a one hour troubleshooting and repair service call?

Great Replacement for Older GFCI that stopped working.
Bought this to replace a GFCI that failed in my bathroom. Easy install 4 wires and the ground. I marked my line wires before disconnecting them from the old outlet. Proceeded to wire up, put back in wall. Put new cover on. Once energized and tested everything is good. This is the first outlet in circuit that is where you need to install it. The outlet downstream on the circuit is my porch outlet, now its AFCI protected

                      Green indicator light stopped working
I have had this item for about 3 years with light use. The green indicator light which indicates that it is has passed self-test and is functioning has stopped working. I only see a brief flash of the red led after resetting, then nothing. The green light never comes on despite the outlet providing power .

Loaded with features, slim profile, and easy to install. Replaced three receptacles in the garage as they had some age to them. Glad I did, better safe than sorry
