I have not seem them in 10 packs at hardware stores. You may need to look at electric supply houses

There is a small tab on each side of the outlet that is to be broken off if one outlet is to be switched and the other to remain hot. Check to see if this tab was removed.

What amp is needed for 110 voltage

This question doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.... this wiring device can handle 15A, per the description. This should only be installed on a circuit wired with 14 gauge wiring. Since this is a two blade design I assume you have a two wire system, without a ground. Often older wiring is harder to tell the gauge if you’re not used to looking at wiring. To make things simple since I’m guessing you’re not an electrician, I recommend you only install this device on a circuit protected by a 15A circuit breaker. This is an outdated type of device (no ground). You may be better off paying a few dollars more for a GFCI outlet that can handle older wiring with more protection. Of course, you’d be safest by hiring a licensed insured electrician.... but I’m just assuming that you aren’t interested in this since you’re asking yourself!

can this receptacle be used with aluminum wire ?

Yes and no. Any device can be used with aluminum wiring so long as the correct transition pieces/whips are used. These are expensive and hard to find. You would be better off using a gfci device rated for “cu/al” as there is usually a better selection, and you won’t end up with unsafe converters or cut off three prong plugs....

Do you make a two prong out-let with tamper resistance?

Sorry, but Leviton does not offer a tamper-resistant two-pronged duplex.

Does this have a break away tab so I can wire only on of the 2 outlets to be switched?

Yes it does.

What is the point? Why not just get a grounded outlet?

Some old homes don't have a ground wire running to every outlet. It isn't legal to use a three wire outlet when only two wires are available.

Are these tamper-resistant?

No, these are not.

The Topeka store said they had it in 10 packs, but they could not locate it on the floor. Yep, I'd like to stock up on these, since they are getting harder to find. Menards, even responded to me when asked, why would I want these? Had to explain to them HUD and HQS inspection and the false safety impression given, when you use a 3 wire system on a 2 wire system.

Are these outlets compatible with aluminum wiring?

He's nuts. lol The 15 amp duplex CO/ALR outlet is made for aluminum wiring. Home Depot sells them for $2.99 or $2.69 if bought in the 10 pack. Aluminum and brass metals do not mix well. You need outlets that have aluminum screws and connection plates.

I actually got this outlet by mistake because all my outlets that are grounded. If I have somewhere that I just use 2-prong plugs I may use it there. These outlets are well made, really inexpensive and easy to install. I don’t know why this is more expensive than the 3-prong one but they are both inexpensive. They also sent me cover plates with them that I wasn’t expecting. That was nice. I always buy extra outlets, switches and cover plates to keep in the house because they are so inexpensive and it avoids a special trip to the store when I need one. One thing I discovered looking at the website is they have some great videos there to explain how to do electrical work. Many home owners are afraid of doing electrical work but it is not hard if you are careful. The video on how to install a new outlet explains really well how to do it. There is one thing I would change in the video though. They show shutting off the power to the outlet and then checking with a voltage tester to ensure the power really has been shut off. I would recommend testing the outlet before you shut off the breaker so you can make sure your voltage tester is working. Then when you shut off the breaker and test it again you know it is really off. In the video they have a nicely labeled breaker but in most houses it is often not as clear which breaker goes with which outlet.

I got this by mistake with grounded outlets, how ever it ended up working out. I just had to change the project supply wire. How you use these products is only limited by your imagination, sill level and creativity. In the picture a heating and cooling control built with this part as the primary outlet.
