Can this work for just a fan instead of a light?

          Answer This Question

Yes, IF the fan does not draw more amperage than the sensor is rated for. I used this sensor to control a bathroom light and fan ceiling fixture and it works great.

          YES.

          By|Aug 27, 2020

As long as you have a single pole switch currently operating the fan. It works on motion, so it will automatically activate when motion is detected, as long as it’s installed where it’s in a clear and open area for maximum detection of motion.

How long woukd it stay on in a conercial restroom if one guest gets out but more are still in?

          Answer This Question

That would depend if the second guest is moving near the sensor, if the guest is in a stall and the sensor does not sense any movement then it would shut off at the time the installer has it set for, it is adjustable at installation and can be changed when and if necessary, if the instruction sheet is saved.

          By|Aug 27, 2020

Be aware, this is motion sensor, it's not body-heat sensor. Each time it sensors motion will turn on and stay on for around 2 to 5 minutes, regardless if there are more motion activities at the time, and then turned off. The situation you mentioned, I would suggest you to get a body-heat sensor light, instead.

Will this 2.5 amp switch work with a series of 6 connected led lights? (Commercial Electric Integrated LED Recessed Trim). The circuit is 20 Amp. If not, what do I need to change?

              Answer This Question

It works well but it would take another light sensor to keep it from daying.

              By|Nov 12, 2020

Yes... IF all the lights are on the same circuit, wired in parallel, and the TOTAL draw on the circuit is UNDER the max load of the switch. To work effectively, the activity would need to remain within the motion-sensing range of the switch.

                    Motion doesn't work
Unit is rated for a small motor. Was asked to & installed one in the bar bathroom to control fan and have a Lutron motion dimmer working the lights. If I use the Lutron device fan works or light works. I can even install both att he same time, fan doesn't move enough air when set very low. Now I remember why we install Lutron motion switches with my company. I hope I know what I am doing, 16 years experience as an electrician.

The motion sensor was easily installed, and it works really well. The sensitivity is great. I am using it for my garage work lights which are all LED can lights and they work without any troubles of the old style of motion sensor.

This product is simply a mess and not intended for home use as advertised. We have retrofit our house with multiple switches, ceiling fans, and redid the entire bathroom on our own. We are not what you would call novices with remodel or electrical. I can see this switch working in a very large room where you have a 3-way and need for an occupancy sensor. The need to add a solid wire neutral during a retro-fit is also tedious. After struggling with this and the horrible instructions for over an hour, calling support and being told we needed a "master switch" to manage this one as the slave - not in the description (even though it says it can replace a single-pole). We got the "master switch" and it still doesn't work. So much for having an auto-off switch to the stair light that gets left on by teenagers all the time. We finally got both installed and it still didn't work as described. A lot of money down the drain. Instead we went and picked up a Lutron Auto on/off for less than one of these, installed it in about 5 minutes - bingo all set. I cannot recommend this product. The best thing about it is you have 3 color choices for the plate/switch - white, bisque, and almond.

Although I selected this sensor because it was 3 way, I eventually reconfigured as a single pole switch. This is in a long narrow (messy!) laundry room where 3 ways make sense by the 2 doors, but I discovered as I was installing that actually one of the switch locations could "see" all the way to the other entry, The single location would sense occupancy just fine, no need for the 3 way. In fact, for my wife trying to use it as designed (switch on- auto off) was more confusing . We've learned to adjust the delay a few minutes since we discovered that while folding laundry the senor may not notice enough movement to stay on. if set to the minimum. Easy to install either way, though when repurposing a 3 way circuit as I did you need to basically abandon one of the wires and cover the unused wire with a wire nut. Nice product, quick response, easy to configure the time.
