Center to Center vs Pull Length
To determine what sized cabinet hardware you need, measure the distance between the center of one screw hole to the center of the next. This will give you the center to center measurement. Pull length is simply the distance from one end of a pull to the other and can be different from the center to center measurement. Pull length does not affect what size hardware you need but is rather based on style and design preference.

A: I believe these weee designed for kitchen cabinets. They work wonderfully on my cabinets that didn’t have easy close hinges. I’m a bit doubtful they would hande the weight of a freezer door.

A: While the damper would likely work, since it’s primarily spring activated, it is designed to be mounted to the wooden frame of a kitchen or bath cabinet with surface mounted, light weight doors. I don’t believe it would mount properly to a freezer door frame and likely could not dampen the added weight of such a door.Â
by|Feb 27, 2022
A: It’s a plastic product with a metal spring inside. It should be ok inside a freezer, but what concerns me more is the fact that you’ll have to screw this to the door inside and create a hole in the insulated layer

A:Â You may need to adjust the Damper using the thumb screw on the back. The door hinges need to self closing and in good working order, a little lubricant or adjustment may help.

A:Â Just unscrew and remove them.

A:Â They work independent of the hinge.
by|Aug 28, 2021
A:Â I would expect them to work fine with exposed hinges.
by|Jul 28, 2021
A:Â These are separate devices that go in the corner of the cabinet opening and catch the door before it slams and gently guides it to close. I would also recommend that you stick on those tiny silicone bumpers on the corners to dampen and sound when they door finally touches the cabinet. They are inexpensive and come in multiple sizes

A:Â Seems to be 10 years, mine are in for just 6 and still working. They are not the best quality and the pistons probably wear out eventually.
by|Mar 7, 2019
A:Â Wow, 10 years! I think you got everything out of them that you should have gotten. Be happy they lasted this long. Just go get yourself another set. They are cheap per piece.

A:Â Hi Steve!
Realistically a ten year service life for these Soft Close Cabinet Door Dampers is a good value. If I get ten years out of those I have installed at home I will be surprised and happy. An amazingly good value for the investment.
BTW have you tried adjusting the screw on the back of each damper? I have seen them back out a little a compromise the damping effect. Give it a check.
by|Mar 9, 2019
A:Â same. I installed cabinets in 2012 and I've replaced the hardware twice on the cabinets I use most. this product is kind of a joke.

great product, easy to install, not expensive . I installed 30 of theses little gems 9 years ago and cannot be more p;leased. I just installed a few more on some cabinets that were not used much and found a helpful hint to share. I emptied all contents from package and weighted the lower half with a ratchet socket and now when I drill the lower half catches the sawdust and makes my job easlier and cleaner. My wife loves the quiet doors and no mess , this makes her happy . When she is happy I am happy. These should be installed on every new house.

Nice Product
Just installed a week ago and so far they are great. I would have given 5 stars but had a couple of concerns. When I looked at the product on-line I thought they were metal, but in fact they are plastic. That may not be an issue as they are not too likely to break where they are installed at the top hinge side of the cabinet doors. One other issue is that the adjustments had to be turned nearly to the limit to allow the doors to close quickly and quietly. Just another turn or so on the adjustment screws would have let the screw fall out.
Our cabinets have hinges that are spring loaded to make the doors close but if yours do not I don't know how these can work. Self closing hinges are essential for these soft close adapters.

No more slamming
While going through the aisles in Home Depot, I ran into this damper and thought to give it a try. Material is all plastic and does not feel sturdy at all. Installation requires a drill and a 3/32 drill bit to make pilot hole. The hole is to be made at a 65 degree angle. The damper sits in the very corner of the cabinet where front vertical and horizontal panels connect. You in fact can screw it where ever you want but the corner will be the best place where it can get maximum beating. You absolutely do not need any special skills to install it, the process is fairly simple. So far, I don’t hear any cabinet slamming and it’s been working great. On most of my kitchen cabinets, I had to install 2 dampers on each door (one top and one at the bottom) since single damper was not really stopping the door if I closed it a little hard. But with 2 in place, it’s working just as I wanted. It’s a simple solution to avoid door slamming and giving your cabinets a high-end look. I cannot speak about longevity but for now I am liking it.

Not What I Expected
These installed easy enough as it was only a single pilot hole and then the screw. it took about 10 minutes to install the set.
First off, these dampeners will not close the door of your cabinet for you like others will. The spring is too stiff, even if you move the tension knob all the way out. I actually removed one of the knobs and it made no difference. as the tension knob only changes the length of the contact point and doesn't actually change the tension. For me, to close the cabinet door, I had to push the cabinet door to get it to fully close. Not that it was difficult to do so, it just go annoying after awhile. However, once closed, they will stay closed. I have medium to light weight cabinet doors.
The only thing these do is prevent the cabinet door from banging shut, but you can accomplish the same thing with felt pads. So we ended up taking them out, which only took 5 minutes to remove 10.

Works Flawlessly
I was skeptical about these cabinet door soft close devices, but I have to admit they work great. They are easy to install with only one small screw; I put all ten in in less than 10 minutes. And they work instantly just like the high priced soft close cabinets everyone wants now. I didn't have to adjust any of them, but I played with the adjustment screw as a test and it works well, too. The instructions say to use two for heavy doors, but my doors are pretty heavy (42" uppers) and they are way strong enough for them. This is a really cool thing someone could put in and surprise a loved one with; you know, for extra credit. They seem to be built strongly, but I'll update this review in a month or so. They don't take up much space, but they are visible and obvious when the door is open. No problem for me.
I highly recommend them.

Change OK cabinet doors to something fantastic!
These cabinet door soft close dampers do exactly what they should and are so easy to install. I installed the dampers on some inexpensive cabinetry in our laundry room. The doors banged when we shut them. I was just waiting for something to break. Now, no more stress and we didn't have to change our behavior. Our family still does the slamming action, but the doors close gently...and all the way!
The damper casing is all metal so I expect that it will last for the life of the cabinets!

Say Goodbye To Loud Closing Cabinet Doors!
The Liberty Soft Close Dampers are small units measuring only 1-7/8" long by 11/16" wide by 1-13/16" high, two screw holes for either left or right door installation, chrome finish, brim goes around the entire front, adjustment screw in back.
Installs in a matter of minutes by holding the damper in place, drilling a 1/4" pilot hole with a 3/32 drill, fasten with screw. Brims on the damper help keep the unit from moving when the door closes. Turn the adjustment screw to your desired closure, you're done.
The before and after difference is remarkable, from a loud banging, to barely a whimper when the door closes. Highly recommend this product.
