Questions & Answers

is the surface smooth or textured?

Asked by: BB
Thank you for your question. The product is not completely smooth. It does have some texture to the surface to simulate a more realistic looking product.

Would this flooring be recommended for Living room, hallways, dinning and kitchen?

I know it says it's durable, doesn't scratch or dent. But after reading many reviews Im a bit uncertain. How well would this flooring hold up underneath 3 reclining sofas, and living room tables?. Would the weight dent the flooring? If so, what's a good flooring that can flow openly between a living area, kitchen/dinning and hallway? Please any recommendations. Thanks!

I have the floor in my basement and like any flooring, you have to use common sense when dragging things across it. It will scratch if you don't protect it. But honestly, it looks amazing. I love it.

This is the first flooring of any type I have done so I didn't want to give it too low of a review since I don't have another benchmark to compare it to. I'll just list all the problems. 1) Pieces don't seem square or the locking isn't cut right. As you lay the flooring down you get one piece that won't line up with the others all of a sudden. It's pretty triggering if you are the type of person that takes your times to make sure everything is perfect. 2) The locking strips on the planks are not durable. They break off when trying to pull planks apart (sometimes). I've had one break while snapping two end pieces together (they were lined up and I was using the palm of my hand). All I could really do is laugh when it happened. They do cut easy if you have a table saw, which I had to buy since there was no way I was cutting through these things with a razer, as was claimed by the lady that sold them to me. This is a round about way of saying they are durable (minus the locking strips).

We did the installation ourselves, it was pretty easy. Would recommend watching some you tube videos for installation tips. We used a table saw to cut instead of a utility knife as suggested in instructions. The flooring looks fantastic and we are really happy with it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the lack of pattern and how the boards are mixed into the boxes. There are only 4 different patterns, with occasional boards "flipped" so you get a little bit of variation from that. But they do not do a very good job of mixing the patterns within the boxes. We opened one box and all seven planks were the exact same pattern. If you are doing an entire home perhaps you have enough boxes to properly "mix up" the patterns, but it was a bit of a challenge for smaller areas.

After a year, we still love the look of the LifeProof Heirloom Pine Vinyl Flooring. We chose the LifeProof brand because we thought it would stand up the best to heavy traffic wear in the hallways and I still believe it was the best choice for that purpose. I just installed more in the second bedroom and am looking forward to finishing off the third bedroom soon in the condo. The thing I don't like - there are way too many pieces with these very long brown streaks that are supposed to look like knots sawed through lengthways (2 in each box of 8 pieces) and too many that are too ultra-light in color (same). You end up trying to use these in corners, where the furniture will sit on top or just not using them, but there's too many. (Though it's because I'm a perfectionist) I made a mistake of not paying attention when installing and installed two of the pieces too close together in an open area - where I don't want an area rug to cover it up. Still love the flooring and would buy it again because it looks great. Regards, John C.

We just finished installing approximately 1358 SF on this flooring on our main level which is slab on grade. Went together well and looks beautiful. Used a table saw to make all cuts, also needed spacer, block, bar, toe kick to finish the room. We did cut the door frames so it fit right under. Did not use transition piece, we thought it look really cheap thin with just what look like would sticker over! We cut it right up to the carpet and it worked great. I did notice you could pick up real wood transition pieces while at our local store and stain. If we ever need this is the route we will use. Heads up open up at least 5 boxes to get a more random pattern. We found in the 75 boxes we had that some only held 2 patterns some as many as 6. I open up the boxes and laid out boards on the floor ahead of my husband as he installed. I would highly recommend this method.

Used CoreLuxHD for the rest of the house, but decided to try this floor for our bathroom remodel. Very brittle and easy to break the attachment rails. Following directions the short seams never were tight and separated fairly easily while moving floor in tight spots. Spent 2 hours trying to get 2 rows to sit together tightly and stay aligned. . After 2 hours boxed it up, went to Lumber Liquidators and bought more CoreLuxHD and in a little over 2 hours had the entire floor done with very little tapping, no pounding, and it is so tight and noticeably more secure and durable. I've never seen a locking system on flooring this poorly designed and fragile and loose fitting.

There is a learning curve in the beginning but you eventually get the hang of it, just takes more time to do than anticipated, especially since I'm doing 1400 sq of it. I'm halfway through the install, maybe I've put in 5 full days of work into it at this point? You'll definitely need more than just a knife to do this amount, especially if you have a lot of door jambs to undercut, bathroom pipes to install around and tiny closets that seem to take forever!!!!!! Before I purchased this product I made sure to try and scratch the life out of the sample. It will scratch if you put some effort into it however compared to other flooring and other non scratch laminates this seemed superior.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lies lies lies Very disappointed in the lifeproof luxury vinyl product. First off, "score & snap" is more like score each piece 10-15 and then try and snap. I found that a table saw worked best. Next is the "drop and lock" install system. The vinyl and underlayment that is attached can easily break and separate. When this happens it creates a small gap in the flooring. The best fix for this was simply to grab a new piece and take your time and use extreme patience. If you rush - you will break them. Lastly, the most disappointing thing... they are not scratch proof as advertised. We have been very careful (we haven't even had them installed a week) and the moving in and out of our kitchen table chairs has put deep scratches in the flooring. No, these aren't jagged chairs, just normal kitchen table chairs. I'm not looking forward to seeing how the product holds up overtime because we just installed about 34 cases of it. If I had a time machine I would go back and absolutely NOT buy this product.

We had one plank out of 30 boxes that was damaged. I'm very happy with the quality. It's very forgiving to install. If you mess up, take it up and do it again. The material, texture, durability are all superior grade, especially for the price. The problem: The colors Life Proof engineers has caused so much trouble in decision making. We finally decided on Fresh Oak, wanting a lighter color, but with hesitation because the overall colors vary so much. You get 4 different patterns overall. Each pattern has its own color but overall there are 2 light and 2 dark. As one reviewer wrote, some look like a pinkish/salmon color. I found that to be true. The lighting, however, has a lot to do with that and it can be difficult to get an accurate idea with a camera. I took pictures under sunlight, LED, and incandescent light and they are all different. The floors do have a beautiful freshly sanded look but I get frustrated with the pink coming through. All it would take is for LifeProof to add a very little amber or green pigment to the mixture, but I'm no expert.
