Q:What size is the basketball anchor 7" or 9" ?

Answer This Question

A:  This system is a bolt down system that requires a concrete base (approximately 21" x 21" x 30") prepared with steel J-Bolts that are 18" long and 4 Hex Screws (5/8"-11 x 2"). These are connected to the base of the pole. You can find detailed instructions in the manual, or by watching this tutorial video at this link: https://youtu.be/-Od08M_0d8g?si=EGZPQR8bldrTlVx5

Q:The directions say 3' of clearance is recommended behind the pole to operate the adjustment. Based on the pictures it seems it like a lot less is needed. I'm mounted near a wall and need to know a true minimum required.

          Answer This Question

A:  The 3 foot suggestion I believe includes the space needed for a person to be behind the system. If you do not have that much space, it may be best to call customer service for options beforehand. Contact our basketball department. They can be reached at 800-225-3865 or by email at customercare@lifetime.com. Customer Service hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (MT).

Great big and sturdy basketball hoop very nice
We bought this about a week ago and we have been very impressed. Sold, heavy parts. Will last along time. I do have one complaint, the hoop dose shake or move a bit after the ball is bounced off the back board. Almost like it should have one more angled bracket off the back to keep it from shaking.

Did you know you could buy a hoop for you, or as a gift, from Home Depot?. Pricing was pretty inline with all else I had seen online. Shipping time was a bit slow but it all came in intact.

                Backboard Size Different than Advertised??
I just bought the 54" in-ground, tempered-glass basketball hoop (Model # 90568). I'm getting ready to install it this weekend. Upon reading the actual specifications, the documentation says the 'Backboard Dimensions' are 49.5 in. x 33 inches. I very intentionally wanted to purchase a 54" backboard, not a '49.5"' one as the specs indicate. Why are you advertising this as a 54" backboard if it's not??

                  Disappointed
The net was installed as per the instruction. Others have reviewed this saying it was wobbly. I took the chance thining it would be better than our movable one. This is significantly worse. The product looks nice, instruction were decent, but it shakes for atleast 30 seconds after every shot. Everyone that comes over to use it has noticed it. Terrible product

I am 100% satisfied with this system! I installed my hoop on Friday, July 10th. This was my first time assembling a basketball hoop and I found the instructions to be easy to follow, making the assembly of the hoop relatively easy. The assembly of the hoop itself took approximately 1.5 hours. Where I was able to save time and get the entire installation done in under 3 hours, was by using a ground screw versus pouring concrete (see attached pictures). Every review I read mentioned that the instructions did not call for enough concrete, that the hole was hard to dig, after concrete cured the bolts didn't line up, their hoop was crooked after anchoring the hoop to the concrete pad, etc. This lead me to do some research and I found a company called US Post Company, and they have a product called "Spin Digger" which is a ground screw that is used for mounting various products "In Ground" without using concrete. Richard Parent the owner of US Post Company, he personally came out and installed the ground screw himself. He used a 6' ground screw so it would be below the frost line eliminating any chance for the hoop to ever lean under any load or weather conditions. Using the ground screw made the pole more rigid and sturdy. The ground screw took away all the shaking and spring in the back board that others mentioned in their reviews making this hoop feel like your playing in an actual gym. The ground screw took approximately 10 to 12 minutes to install into the ground. When using concrete the installation process can take anywhere from 3 to 7 days depending on weather conditions and concrete cure time. The ground screw eliminated multiple visits from the installing contractor and changed a 3 to 7 days installation window into a 3 hour same day installation. We started the assembly at 4pm and my kids were enjoying the hoop by 7pm that same day. I mention all of this to help inform others of this amazing in ground assembly system that I think makes this product even better and save you all the headaches of using concrete.

                      Nice basketball goal
Pretty simple to put together, you need two people to mount the backboard and stand it all up. My son dug the hole 25x25x30 instead of 21x21x30 so it took twenty 80 lbs bags of cement which is just 400lbs short of a ton. This is a great item but would probably benefit if the pole was one piece and just a bit bigger gauge. You get movement from the goal if you use the backboard for the shot, but it's not much. Kids love it.
