It’s been my experience that low battery makes devices behave strangely so I would replace the batteries.
No, it's sensor activated and only works at night.
That shouldn’t be. Try removing the batteries and putting them back.
It's been a while since I installed it but just looked and there are 2 screws that attach the back plate, then the unit slides into the bracket on the back plate.
Returned the light. Auto headlights from the street triggered the sensor.
I guess that would depend on how high you install it. Mine shines a 7 to 8 foot circle.

I would return the item to Home Depot and just order another one.
