Can this pump plug directly into the back of my portable A/C unit, which has a 3-prong receptacle?

In my opinion yes. I'm not a HVAC specialist but I can not see a difference between plugging it in there or to the wall receptacle.

Yes I can. This is almost needlessly confusing but I understand why they do it his way. You have listed the Item numbers but these also have Model numbers and you may notice that the second model number for the 554435 has a "T" at the end. The T is for tubing as this unit comes with 20' of discharge tubing for the convenience of the installer. Where as the other does not. So if it is a new installation you may choose to use the 554435 and if you are replacing a unit that has worn out you may elect to get the 554425. Other than that the units are identical.

Drain hose

Asked by RI July 14, 2016

Answer

I don't see why not. You can run multiple drain lines into this unit. However your question peeks my interest in another way. First, why is your humidifier running in the summer? Usually low humidity is a winter problem and those units should be running when the heat is on. Second, if the air is dry it should be absorbing all the water. A lot of discharge could indicate that either the air is not dry to start or the media for heat water absorption has fowled. If you have questions or this does not make sense feel free to give me call. Chris 978 651 3301

Will the safety switch power an alarm, or is a separate DC power source needed for an alarm?

Asked by Jim April 30, 2016

Answer

The safety switch is a dry contact. Meaning there is no power it is just as switch. So you would need to power it. Some AC units come with a transformer and internal switch that allows this switch to shut them down in the event of pump failure.
