Q:Can this squeegee be used to wipe away water droplets from porch ceilings and soffits after house washing to prevent water spots?

Answer This Question
A:Â I would assume you could use it on a porch ceiling and soffit. I use mine to remove water from my hot tub cover and wood porch floor and wood decking so as to not scratch or mar the surface. I also use it to remove light snow from the same surfaces as mentioned above. However you have to be careful when doing so because the head is made of plastic and you can easily break the head.

A:Â I had a handle from an old broom that had the right (smaller diameter) shaft size. Check the 99 cent and discount stores.

This is a simple tool that works well. It can be screwed onto a standard pole or one of the Unger locking type poles. I do not have the locking-type, so I used a standard pole. It worked well to remove most of the water off the concrete area that I tested it on. I used it on concrete that has a brushed finish and while I could tell the rubber piece had been used, it would take a long time to wear all the way through it. I like the width which made it easier to squeegee a larger area quickly.

I use a squeegee in my walkin shower to keep the glass spot free, I have very hard water, and I've found if I squeegee frequently (not necessarily daily) the problem does not build-up (pun intended). I've been using a nice looking 10" rubber and metal squeegee. It's fine, but when I was at HD and saw this 22" squeegee (with it's "Unique" Lock-On handle system), I had to give it a try, as it should cut the job in half. The Unger Squeegee head is sold separately from it's "Lock-On" handle. I tried to find the matching handle, but there was none in stock (or on the internet - yet).
So I used a 1 foot handle that I already had (obviously without "lock-on" feature). In any case the 22' squeegee is about the same weight as my 10" metal squeegee. I find that the foam blade "moves" the water drops differently than the rubber squeegee. I have to keep the larger blade pressed evenly on the glass. When held properly it does a great job, but it's easy to wiggle and miss an edge (so I cover 18" instead of 22"). It is difficult to pull completely evenly, and only the leading edge of the foam moves the water (unless you press very firmly).
I have about 70 sq ft of glass, and this squeegee cuts the time to do it from being about a minute to 40s, but I have to be more careful. Now using it to move the water on the floor (which I do occasionally, as it cleans the cracks and removes water deposits), is a breeze much easier than my other squeegee, here works brilliantly.
The handle does come out of the squeegee pretty easily. So, once I find the matching (short) Lock-On handle, I'll definitely upgrade, but I've looked and can't yet find it anywhere (yet). I think they should sell the squeegee with (2 sizes: 1' and 4') and without the Lock On handle(s) . The Unger Lock On Squeegee does a great job in covering a larger area.

This review is for the UNGER Lock on 22 inch foam floor squeegee,
Item # 975350.
We have a lot of ceramic tile floors in our home and we use a power
floor scrubber to keep them clean. Though it's designed to scrub and
then vacuum up all the water and cleaner it uses, it also tends to leave
quite a bit of water on the floor which can dry and leave visible residue.
The squeegee portion is made of two long dense foam blades, each
measuring 3/8" thick for a total blade width 3/4" and it's 22" long.
I thought this morning I would give this floor squeegee a try to gather
up the water that the floor machine left behind. I was pleasantly surprised
that it did a really good job of gathering the residual water to one
place and I easily sponged it up.
This really helped in alleviating the water lines left on the floor that
were normally there after using my power scrubber. Now I'll use the
scrubber and his squeegee hand in hand. Great product, love it for this use.
