Is this powerful enough to weld a propane tank for a smoker?

Technically, the 200 Amp TIG/Stick welding power of this 3-in-1 Combo Machine is more than sufficient to weld the steel thickness typically found on propane tanks. However, we must urge extreme caution. Welding a used propane tank is extremely dangerous due to the risk of residual flammable gas causing an explosion, even if the tank seems empty. We strongly recommend following all professional safety protocols for purging and preparing fuel tanks before any welding begins. Do you have to switch regulators for cutting and welding?

Yes, you will need to switch your gas source and regulators depending on the function you are using. >For Plasma Cutting: You need to use the Air Filter Regulator (included with the machine) connected to an air compressor to provide compressed air.For TIG Welding: You need to use an Argon Regulator connected to an Argon gas tank to provide shielding gas.The machine has a gas inlet on the back; you will simply swap the hose connection from the air compressor/filter to the argon tank/regulator when switching between cutting and TIG welding.
