Started installing through out the house had some issues at first but called customer service ( which is excellent btw) and got it cleared up. Overall love the products but wish the basic switch was in stock instead of having to order it.

I work graveyard shifts and always forget to turn off our outdoor light, sometimes 2-3 days in a row. This resolves that issue. I purchased a Lutron Starter Kit along with this and paired it to the phone app via the bridge/hub that came with the switch starter kit. Now my outdoor lights is part of my geofence and has a schedule. I'm saving energy in the long run. I hope it lasts!

With about 3 weeks in service, this RF-switch (RF), and the 4 Pico remotes (PR), works perfectly! One PR is on a car's visor. The installation method used was the one with (the RF source-fed and) a 3-way mechanical switch. This configuration is illustrated on Lutron "document" (what seems to be) #368-4493d created on 1-5-2018, pages 49-50, as shown below if scanning works. This configuration made the system able to operate within Lutron's "reliability range" of 30 feet. The mechanical switch is in the garage at least 80 feet distant + brick/internal house walls, which obviously does not matter. Three PRs are in the house (build date 1928), on 3 different floors (or basement and 2 floors above, small house) with each at less than 30 feet from the RF. The RF is (inside the house) next to the front door 's frame, so that the passing car is well within 30 feet while passing the house front while going down the 100+ foot driveway to the garage. Now what made this possible: The existing, very HARD to do, cabling method made this project EASY. Due to wise planning years ago during some remodeling, an installed pipe conduit allowed pulling the necessary Romex 14-3 AND a single additional (insulated) wire up to the front door multi-ganged switchbox for the RF. In this configuration, the RF needs 5 wires. This front door location was thus (depending on your point of view) added to the existing 4-way circuit. Actually, it became the RF location, once all the other switch locations were abandoned except for in the garage. The most important thing to know about the cabling is that it is arranged with all the switch cables terminating in one big junction box (on the basement ceiling). This is often called "star-pattern" wiring. Thus, all wiring connection changes from being a 4-way mechanical switch circuit to becoming a 2-switch Lutron RF circuit were done only in that one junction box. The multi-switch 4-way mechanical cabling had been installed over about 35 years, including underground service to the $40K+ garage and major (messy, dusty) remodeling in the house. Thus, a really well established cabled switch circuit was ready for a good, reliable radio-controllable update. There are only lights in this system. The 3 fixtures on the garage exterior front were changed to 15W "daylight" LEDs for this, and are excellent. The garage's side man-door light is 70W max. The house rear lights are a 300W halogen and one 70W incandescent. That is under 500W, well within the RF load limit. When switched in the garage (mechanically) all lights blink once. That's ok with me. It is curious that having remote-control garage doors has been a staple here for decades, but only now for the exterior/backyard lights. It was obviously easy in this situation to use an RF switch that requires a neutral connection. Testimonials at Lutron's website "Forum" seem to recommend neutral-wire connection arrangements when possible. Perhaps this helps to optimize sensing of switching action. I know absolutely NOTHING about adding devices to this that you talk to, or any other "addable" gizmos that seem to be "all the craze".

Once you have all the wire assignments down it's a fairly straight forward install. Supports single pole and 3 way installs without having to use specialized switch at other locations like other brands. Easily turn a single pole switch into a 3 way utilizing a Caseta remote and wall mount remote kit. Important to note that these switches require a Luton smart hub for app functionality or home automation integration. That said, it is one of the most supported and integrated smart switches on the market. App interaction is quick, under half a second from what I have experienced.

This is a five-wire switch that is capable of working in a 3-way arrangement and that requires a neutral wire. I was using it in a single pole installation and had an issue with finding neutral in my switch box, but once I figured all of that out and got it wired correctly, it works great. I'm using it to control an overhead fan with HomeKit and I'm pleased. I replaced five standard switches and dimmers with smart Lutron Caseta items and they all work great with HomeKit. Easy installation, easy wireless setup, and the switches and plates look really good in the wall.

I changed out the single-pole switch that controls the outside lights on the front of my house for this Lutron Caseta wireless switch, and paired with a matching Lutron Pico dimmer (sold separately), my wife can now turn on those lights as she's approaching the house. We live way out in the middle of nowhere, and she has come home to a bear in the yard a couple of times. The motion light we had would only detect her car when she was almost at the front door. Although Lutron lists the range of the Caseta stuff as being 30', the remote is turning on our lights from at least 200' away, which gives her greater peace of mind. This unit was an easy install. It does require a neutral wire being available in the switch box that you intend to locate it in. A neutral may not be available in certain instances, so you should probably check before deciding on this model. Lutron has other models that will work with no neutral present at the device. The separately-purchased Pico remote was very easy to pair with this switch. I've attached a pic of it. It looks exactly like, and has the same dimensions as the face of this switch, and there's a reason for this. You can purchase a adapter for this Pico remote to wall-mount it, and with a Decora-style plate, it has the exact same appearance as the switch does on your wall. In places that you'd like to add a 3-way switch, but for whatever reasons is not really feasible by doing it the standard way, like lack of accessibility to fish wires in, one of these Pico remotes can be paired to this switch (or any of the other Lutron Caseta switches), then wall-mounted whenever you'd like additional control of the switched item. Multiple Pico remotes can be paired with the same switch/dimmer. It gets better still - with the use of the Lutron Smart Bridge, which links your Caseta devices to your WiFi router, Caseta devices in your home can be controlled from your cellphone via Lutron's free app. This Caseta wireless system will also integrate with Alexa, Apple HomeKit, SmartThings and others, allowing for voice and automated control. The possibilities are almost endless. This particular model allows for switching only, not dimming. Lutron has several models that offer dimming, with very nice features. Lutron has been making pro-grade electrical devices for many years, so you can be assured that this is a grade-A product. Highly recommended!

Added this switch to my existing Caseta wireless system. Installation is as simple as other wall switches, not rocket science and the manual is self-explanatory. This is only a switch and not a dimmer. Cover / wall plate is not included. It only has the On and Off buttons and can control lights or ceiling fans, but it is limited to 720 watts and/or 6 Amps in various set ups – see product info for specs and details. After it’s installed and connected to the Caseta wireless hub, it can easily be controlled through the app or with the Pico remote control – not included. So far it works great in my multi-location setup, but it’s not for everyone. Make sure you’re getting the proper rating for your setup. There are many different switches and dimmers out there. This one has limitations and isn’t a full kit. Like my other Caseta dimmers, this switch also has the small flat pull-out tab under the OFF button that completely disables the switch. It is to prevent any shorts when you need to replace light bulbs or clean a light fixture. It’s called FASS – Front Accessible Service Switch. Pros: - Works as advertised - Can be controlled wirelessly - Matches other Lutron Caseta switches/dimmers Cons: - Doesn’t work with Wink - Pico remote NOT included - Cover / wall plate is NOT included - Neutral wire required for installation Overall a good a switch that works as advertised. Must be installed correctly and in the right set up. Another good Lutron product. Maybe within a few years, I will have my entire home controlled wirelessly. Good and scary at the same time.

Caseta Wireless is the dominate wireless light control solution in my home. I have in-wall dimmers for most of the lights downstairs. The dimmers works well but there are some situations where a dimmer cannot be used or where an on/off switch is preferable. I used this switch for a ceiling light fixture at the bottom of our stairs. That fixture has a single 9 watt LED bulb installed in it. I didn't feel there was a need for dimming. Installation took about ten minutes. Please note that this switch does require a neutral wire. Our home is just under six years old so that is not an issue. Once installed, there was no flickering with the bulb I used. Adding this switch to the app took only a few minutes. I won't go into detail but the Caseta Wireless app has numerous options as to how you can control your lights. I have a fair amount of connected products and the Caseta Wireless app is hands down the best of them all. This switch does not include a Pico remote but can work with one. A Pico remote can be mounted as a 3-way switch or you can use a regular 3-way toggle switch. There's nothing negative to say about this switch but yes at this time it cost a little more than the dimmer. With most of my downstairs complete, I'm now considering using Caseta Wireless upstairs. My children's bedrooms have ceiling fans so for those situations, I need this switch since dimmers will not work. This switch and Caseta Wireless in general works great. I very highly recommend.

The Caseta switch works fine but I don't see the point, especially at the current price. The switch with the neutral wire is supposed to work better with low-wattage LED bulbs. This switch will not work if the neutral wire isn't connected. If you live in an older home, that may be a problem since you may not have a neutral wire in your switch box. Based on the Q&A above it seems like there's a minimum of 10 watts. Below that a single LED might not work correctly. I tested a number of bulbs including 18W LED tube, 10.5W dimmable LED and 8.5W non-dimmable LED. All the bulbs worked fine except the 8.5W non-dimmable LED which flickered after the switch was switched off. I have a Lutron Caseta dimmer switch and I think it's great. I have it controlling 6 recessed cans with dimmable 10.5 watt Philips SlimStyle LEDs. If I unscrew all the bulbs except for 1, that one bulb turns and on off perfectly. The dimmer costs less. If your current bulbs aren't dimmable you'll need to replace them. If it's only one bulb it's still cheaper to buy the dimmer and replace the bulb since you can get dimmable LED bulbs for less than $6 these days. The only time I think you'd need this switch is if you already have an investment in non-dimmable LED bulbs that won't work with the dimmer and you haven't recouped your investment in the bulbs. Lutron does make a Caseta switch that doesn't require a neutral wire. It costs about the same because it includes a Minimum Load Capacitor (LUT-MLC) to deal with bulbs that won't turn off. It's about the same price as this switch and Home Depot doesn't carry it. This switch does less than the dimmer, it may be impossible for some people to install because you need a neutral wire and it costs more. Why would I want to buy this over the dimmer? If this cost less than the dimmer and didn't need a neutral wire I could see myself installing more of these. If I go to Home Depot and buy a regular, dumb switch it costs less than a dimmer. One nice thing you could do with this is add 3-way functionality to a light that's not wired for 3-way switches. You'd get one of the pico remote controls and a wall mount plate for the pico remote and mount it where you want the other switch and use this one in the existing switch. Once installed on the wall the remote looks just like the switch. Pair the remote to the switch and you can control the light from two wall switches, only one is wired. But you can do that with the dimmer too. You can also use this if you are already wired with two 3-way switches. You would replace one of the switches with this Caseta switch and keep the other mechanical switch. You'd just have to add a simple jumper wire to the mechanical switch you plan to keep. The lights will still function as you'd expect and you can control the lights remotely. I know I don't have neutral wires at all my switches and I didn't want to go hunting around for a switch that has one. Plus I wanted to try out different bulbs so I wired it together with a receptacle that I could plug in for power. It worked well with a single 10.5 watt Philips Slimstyle LED bulb, a 60 watt incandescant and a 3' 18w LED tube as well as a 4 bulb shop light with 4 LED tubes. I even hard-wired it to a single bulb fixture and it worked with both the 10.5 watt LED and a 60 watt incandescent. Using a non-dimmable 8.5 watt LED bulb however caused problems. The bulb wouldn't turn off and would just flicker. See video. If you do have a neutral wire installation is fairly easy. Just make sure that you attach the black and red wires from the switch correctly. It may be hard to tell which wire is load and which is hot just by looking at the old switch. If the switch isn't operating correctly such as the lights stay on and the switch won't turn them off, try to reverse the wires from the box connected to the red and black wires on the switch. The Lutron SmartBridge connects all your Caseta switches wirelessly and allows you to control the switch from your phone. It doesn't come with this switch but I already have one setup. It was very easy to add this switch to my SmartBridge. You can add up to 50 devices to the SmartBridge. From the Lutron app you can turn lights on and off, include them in scenes as well as schedule scenes to come on or off automatically. If you don't have a Lutron SmartBridge and you use mainly Android devices I would say skip it and go with a Wink Hub as it handles more devices including the Casetta switches. If you use iPhone and other iOS devices I think you may need the SmartBridge to work with HomeKit but I don't have Apple products to test it with. Lutron support is very good. I had contacted them a couple of times when I was installing my dimmer and another time when I had a problem with my SmartBridge. Both times they were able to help me resolve my problems and were very knowledgeable about the Caseta products. Please make a cheaper version of the dimmer that's just a 2-way on/off switch that doesn't need a neutral wire so it's more affordable to upgrade switches that don't need to dim. Just offer the non-neutral wire version of the switch without the MLC or something similar. It's cheaper to replace a single bulb than to buy an MLC. I think it should be possible because I own a couple of other non Lutron switches that can connect to the internet and came with a remote that cost a lot less but the other company's web/app features aren't as good. I would love to replace them with Caseta switches.
