Product Overview

The Maestro Countdown Timer Switch helps you save money and energy by automatically turning off the lights and fans after a preset time. Using the Maestro Countdown timer on bathroom exhaust fans can reduce the chance of a costly mold problem, and timers attached to garage lights can add an extra layer of safety when you return home at night. Use the large tap switch to turn the timer on and off, and use the rocker on the side to set the timer to the desired time-out option, anywhere from 5-60 minutes. Softly lit LED's indicate the time remaining before turn-off. Save energy by using the Maestro Countdown Timer in closets, attics, basements, and other low-traffic areas to ensure the light is never left on for a long time. Coordinating Claro wall plates and accessories sold separately.

The only countdown timer I found that can power my low-draw Panasonic bath fan. Easy to install, and works great.

A timer should be a simple turn on... set time...power flows through the switch for the set time then shuts off. This thing has a micro processor that instead decides if what ever you have plugged in is something it wants to work with. If I plugged a light in it worked. If I plugged a fan in it didn't. Customer service explained the micro processor can be fussy about what it will feed. So now I have $500 and hours of work invested in a color coordinated system for a new kitchen remodel that will now look cheep because I have to go out and find an off color mismatched switch from another brand. Why can't they just make a simple switch? Returned!

We're sorry to hear about your experience with our timer not controlling the fan you connected. The Maestro MA-T51 countdown timer has a minimum load requirement of 0.3A for fans and 40W for incandescent or halogen light bulbs. Some new, energy efficient exhaust fans draw less energy and do not meet that 0.3A minimum load. If you have a new fan that doesn't meet the 0.3A minimum load, you might try the Maestro MA-T51MN (Home Deport item# 204655160) countdown timer. This timer will typically work better with newer fans because it has a 0.05A minimum load requirement for fans and 5W for incandescent or halogen light bulbs. However, the MA-T51MN does require a neutral connection (which allows for the lower minimum load).

I did all of the wiring correctly but I could not get power to the unit. Also, the light switch in the same box didn't work when I installed timer. When I reversed what I did & put old on/off switch for fan, light and fan worked again. I called customer service 2 times to troubleshoot for help. I returned both items for a refund.

"We are sorry to hear this, Jordan. It sounds like something may have been miswired in this application, especially since your other switch was not working either. Additionally, the MA-T51MN requires not only a line (hot) and load (switch leg) connection, but also a neutral connection to the neutral bundle in your wallbox to function.  We suggest checking out our helpful interactive wiring tool at lutron.com/wiringwizard for a step-by-step walk through of installation. If you have any further questions, we'd be happy to help via chat or email at lutron.com/support or via our support line at 1-844-LUTRON1.  We're here 24/7 so feel free to call at any time, day or night.
