The fan is very nice to look at, but horrible to install. My husband was at the end of his rope, and he has installed other fans without frustration. The instructions did not explain basic things like what to do with a gasket that does not have the necessary holes for screws (we made our own holes). The installation video we found from the company doesn't help much with this fan. The remote receiver barely fits inside. At the very end we turned it on only to learn that we had missed a "programming" step to sync with the remote -- this has to be done at first start. It worked anyway. We got it done with four calls to tech support.

Easy to install, runs more quietly, and looks much nicer than the big clunky outdoor fan it replaced. It would help if the remote indicated which way (winter or summer) it is rotating - too easy to accidentally reverse it.

Fan works great, the remote user interface is a little clunky. The older one we replaced had bumps on each of the keys and clicked with it was pushed so at night in the dark you know which key you are pushing and that the fan received the command. The Minka-Aire remote is completely smooth so you have no idea, without turning on a light that you have pushed the right button, and there is no noise that the command has been performed. Seems like a small problem but its a step back from what we were used to. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
