Q:From the photo, it looks like when the extension panel is stored under the table, anyone sitting in the center would hit their legs on it. Is this true or is the panel mostly hidden from view/legs?

The worst table ever
I wanted this table so much that I bought it twice. The first one I returned because the height of the table leaves didn't match, one side was taller than the other. The second one came in a really bad box, full of extra tapes, most certainly a returned item. When I opened it, one of the "wood like" boards was loose, I could see the screws and the holes on the board where the screws should've been. The only good thing about it, is that home Depot took them back.

For the cost of this table, I would expect the extension piece (which makes the table longer for seating 8 people) to firmly fit into the holes provided and lock in place. It does not. There is no locking mechanism for securing the extension piece. No matter what we do, it keeps coming out of the holes causing gaps in the table. It's annoying! Other than that, it really is a beautiful table, but because of this extension problem, I cannot recommend it to other buyers. The table having an extension is precisely why we bought it.

I really like the table but I almost returned it....
I really like the table but I almost returned it. It should have taken 15 minutes to put together but the holes didn’t match up. Luckily my neighbor managed to drill the holes and make everything fit. Would have gotten more stars if not for that problem.
