Valve brass body has casting defects!!!!!
I installed this brass body with sweat solder joints, and both air and water tested it. satisfied it was free of leaks, I put the drywall over the valve and installed very expensive Flex Stone surround tub/shower surround. Two days later, mocro pin holes in the brass body began leaking water into the basement. The only formidable fix I could come up with is to cover the valve body with Plumbers Epoxy. It seems to hold water, but is this the right thing to have to do?

The Moen Brantford 1 handle tub/shower assembly came with all the required components for installation. While I have not installed at this time, I did note that the flow valve has solder connections and is not threaded.

To start with I am a big fan of Moen products. I have used them nearly exclusively for multiple home remodels. Their customer service is outstanding, but this a product I would never repurchase. The Brantford finish is good with this set. The problem is Posi Temp valve itself. Do not buy it. Moen has a better series called Moentrol that offers separate control for temperature and the volume of water. It works better and more intuitively.. It allows you to reduce or increase the volume of water yet still have the ability to change the temperature. Posi Temp does not. Moen has already replaced my spout and shower valve cartridge to correct a stubborn squeak/squeal. It reduced the noise, but it is still there. I have never had this issue with their Moentrol.
