There are Basically Two Types of Tub Spouts. This One is for the Threaded Type. It Is High Quality and Works Great replacing My Tubs Spout which was Long Overdue.
I Had to Special Order this Type and was Delivered Promptly and worth the Time to get.
The Other Type Uses a Set Screw to Attach it to Your Spouts Pipe which was Carried in the Store, and I would have Had to Modify my Plumbing to Use and I don't Recommend You Do.
Both Spouts Look VERY Similar and Determining What Type You Need May Prove Difficult as Both Have a Notch on the Underside where the Set Screw is at, but may be Hard to Tell after being installed for a Long time.
In My Case I wasn't Sure if a Set Screw was There or Not. Twisting to Screw Off Would Probably Damage the Pipe if Indeed a Set Screw was Attaching it.
What I Did to Make Certain What Type I Required was to Get Out the Hacksaw, Cut Off the Old Spout Carefully so Not to Cause Damage to the Pipe, just Behind the Diverter Pull. If You Have Screw Type it Attaches Just Behind This.
Sure Enough, It was Indeed Screw Type and then I Could Exert Force to Turn it and Remove the Remainder of the Old Spout.
If I had Been Wrong and Twisted with Force on the Set Screw Type I would have Probably caused More Damage than Required to Fix.
Hope this Helps, You Won't Regret Replacing the Old Spout and Your Shower Will Be Much more Enjoyable.....
