When properly installed, is the lever in a hot position (straight up)? I would assume straight up is neutral, push back for hot and pull forward for cold. But the installer says that straight up is hot.

Hello WJ and thank you for your interest in Moen products. The handle of the Moen Essie single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Kitchen Faucet with Reflex and Power Clean in Spot Resist Stainless will point straight up or just past the spout for full hot and full cold would rotate 90 degrees forward. For the most part I have liked it, but just today what I thought was hard water build up is actually the finish on the base plate lifting and now flaking off. So apparently there is a spray-on type of finish applied. I have not noticed this happening yet on the actual faucet-- just on the base plate. Hopefully this will not start happening to the faucet too, or it will really look junky. Not sure what to do about the base plate-- whether to wait for the whole finish to come off and see what it looks like compared to the faucet (the color underneath looks like more of a true stainless steel), or to contact Moen to see if there is anything they can do. They would probably send me a new base plate, but then I have to pay a plumber $100 or more to replace it. Might as well buy a new faucet at that point. Bottom line-- if I had known it would do this, I wouldn't have bought the faucet.

The plastic o ring (or whatever it is called that goes between the faucet n counter) had 3 notches that I thought were supposed to line up with the 3 male protrusions on the bottom of the faucet. I tried for a long time and found that they would not all match up. I hope this doesn't allow water to get under the faucet n leak into the cabinet below. Using plumbers putty or caulk was not mentioned. Unlike a lot of faucet brands, if u use the spray n then turn off the water n then turn it on n want the spray u will need to push the button again. With a lot of other brands the last function u had used stays in the same position when u turn it back on. One thing that I had read about before purchasing was that there is no magnet involved when replacing the spray head to the neck of the faucet. I wish Moen would have that available in all of their faucets. The spray function is ok bit it has a wider radius of spray than what I was used to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to install. Looks great. Very good quality. Bought this a month ago. Easy install and looks great. Love the spot resistant feature. But the supply lines that are built into the fixture are very small (narrow). Even though the product description states that it has a 3/8" compression fitting to hook directly up to your house water supply the actual line built into the fixture are 1/4" or maybe even 3/16" diameter which is significantly smaller then the 3/8" supply lines normally used. Now it takes three times longer to get HOT water to the faucet. It use to take 25 seconds to get hot water. Now it takes a 95 seconds. This complaint seems insignificant as I write this review but it is frustrating when you are standing at the kitchen sink waiting for hot water. If your hot water heater is close to the kitchen sink this problem will not affect you much. Other than that it is a great faucet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pull Down Faucet I installed this faucet in a laundry sink to replace a worn out cheap plastic one. The instructions were easy to follow and the install went well. The only caveat I have is that nowhere in the instructions does it say what type of plumbing connection the faucet uses. A search of the Moen web site yielded that they used either a 3/8 compression fitting or a 1/2" iron pipe. My angle valves were 1/2" and it turned out the faucet was 3/8" compression. No big deal except it required another trip to the store to buy a set of adapters. It would be useful if the external packaging specified the connection. That said I am very pleased with the unit. My wife looked at it and said it was too nice to be in a laundry sink. Some reviews have pointed out the lack of pressure. The flow is a bit anemic but that is due to government requirements, not to bad design. One great aspect about the design of this faucet is that when I come in from the garage with greasy hands I can just bump the water on, no touching and fumbling of knobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful ... And Perfect For My Needs I'm not a shower person ... I prefer bubble baths - so I currently use our utility tub to wash my long hair. This pull-down sprayer faucet is the perfect solution for simplifying that process. I love that the hose is flexible enough to manuever around my hairline and the faucet itself is high enough to position my head directly beneath the sprayer. My husband took our utility tub out to the garage and did a cut-out for the soap dispenser. He then assembled everything and carried it back into the laundry room to finish the installation. This comes with the sink escutcheon and soap dispenser which is an added bonus. (I needed to purchase the escutcheon and soap dispenser for our kitchen sink which added quite a bit to the cost!)) I like having the soap dispenser on the mud tub too - no more bottles of liquid soap to knock over! The finish does repel spots and is very easy to clean. Overall - A very attractive solution to my problem.

I was torn between this and Delta with the magnetic retract. Overall, I wish Moen implemented a magnetic retract instead of weights, but it seems to work fine. It just doesn't seem to be as flush as my parent's Delta and when you slide the faucet left or right by pushing on the sprayer it tends to move a little...doesn't feel like one solid piece. The magnet ones tend to feel as if the sprayer is one piece with the faucet when gently pushing on it. Also, it doesn't retract fully on its own. You have to give it a little push up. The magnetic ones tend to go up on their own. Despite this advantage in Delta, I still went with Moen due to its looks and the fact I've heard issues with Delta when it comes to discontinuing replacement parts on some models. I have no comments on installation since a plumber installed it, along with a new sink and RO system. I don't think it took him more than 5 minutes, but I honestly didn't see him do it. The times I looked over, he was working on either getting the sink in or installing the RO system.

Dont know why or how the scratches came out. Didn't notice this until today. I dont believe just fingerprint can scratch the stainless. Just do check before install. Very disappointed.
