very solid and well finished
This is a very nicely designed and manufactured fold down seat. The hardware is strong and robust and the wooden slats are nicely finished and strong.
The mounting holes have are 16" apart to match the typical distance between studs inside the wall.
It is unlikely however that the position of the studs in the wall will happen to match where you want he chair to be positioned, even if you could reliably find them.
It is really important to get the chair fastened into studs, so you don't want to go guessing where the studs are. Fort that reason I only recommend installing this if wither:
a) you do know exactly where your studs are and they happen to match where you want the chair
or
b) you have access to inside of the wall so that you can frame in some timber to exactly match where you want the chair. i.e. during initial construction/installation of the shower .

Great Quality and Functional
When I saw the Fold Down Teak Shower Chair by Moen available, I had to grab it. I have been looking for something like this for a few months now. However, I have been looking for a chair like this for my walk-in closet, not my shower. Now I can easily get dressed in my closet instead of bothering my wife in the bedroom.
Installation was fairly easy. It is recommended that the chair be screwed into the wall with the 6 wood screws that come with the chair. This is assuming that every stud in the wall is 16" on center. For whatever reason the studs along the wall in my closet were 14.5" on center. As a result, I had to use 3 wall anchors along the right side of the chair to fasten it to the wall. Although this is not ideal, as long as the right anchors are used, it will work. I used Molly Bolts. Most importantly, I feel safe when I sit and there is not give or wobble.
The hinges that are a part of the chair seem great. When I pull on the chair to lower the seat, the feel is one of quality. The seat pulls down with some force, can stay put in any position, and never just falls into position.
The only negative I can think of for the Fold Down Teak Shower Chair is the price, it is fairly expensive. However, you know what "they" say about getting what you pay for.
I would absolutely recommend the Fold Down Teak Shower Chair by Moen to any friend or family member.

the best chair ever
unlike built in benches, this one folds which allows more room for accessibility. Also, unlike built-ins, the wood isn't cold to sit on like tile - another bonus. You can treat it with teak oil or let it age naturally - no mtnce. required. It holds up to 400# (provided it's installed correctly.) It looks modern and sleek. I've had my chair for more than a yr and have no regrets. The only suggestion I'd make is for those without a lot of natural padding - you may want to double fold a towel and put that on the seat for extra "cushioning." ;-) Worth every penny! Thanks Moen!
