Q:When installing a ADA grab bar on a fiberglass enclosure shower with an air space behind the fiberglass prior to the stud wall, will the no-stud anchor reach through the shower wall and into the stud wall? Maybe 4-5" total depth.

That would be best answered by an associate at your local Home Depot or scanning the offerings at The Home Depot on line which usually gives you a greater variety. I generally use the 18' ones or bigger because I have very poor balance and that gives me a bigger target to grab. I've gone as big as 30" when I've had the space. I hope that helps, Hank

Great looking grab bar for your shower – not the typical tubular pipe style. Nice chrome finish to go with your shower controls. We installed the 18” model in a 60” x 30” shower stall. If I were doing it again I think I would use the 24” model to be more to the scale of the shower.
It attaches solidly – IF you follow the instructions. I used the provided screws to secure it through tile and Wedi shower panel into horizontal 2x6s that I had installed between studs behind the Wedi panel when building the shower. If you don’t have solid wood behind your shower wall you can use SecureMount Anchors (not included) instead.
Installation is made really easy by the “Press and Mark” feature. Just decide where you want the bar, use a level to ensure the bar is level, remove the protective covers & press the bar against the wall. It will leave black marks (see photo) indicating where to drill. In my case I had to drill through porcelain tile, which was somewhat harrowing, knowing that the tile was quite brittle & not wanting to crack it. I used a ¼” diamond hole saw, kept it wet and took my time. Once through the tile I used a 1/8” drill bit to drill a pilot hole into the wood.
After 6 holes were drilled, the 2 mounting plates were attached and the bar itself snapped on over them and secured with 3 setscrews at each end. The “Press and Mark” feature resulted in perfect alignment, so no re-positioning was needed. Great design to make installation foolproof.
This safety grab bar made by Moen is designed for easy installation alongside a toilet or on a shower wall. The Genta model comes in a brushed nickel finish that is designed to match other Moen faucets and accessories. The bar is designated 18”, but its actual length form flange to flange is 21”. Bar width is 1-3/4” with an off the wall height of 2-1/4”. The safety grab bar must be secured to an existing wall stud on at least one end, preferably both ends. What makes the installation of this grab bar unique is the way Moen has designed the way you locate the supplied fasteners. You simply locate a stud and remove the end caps from the underside of the bar flanges, hold the bar in place in the horizontal, vertical or any angled position, then press in place and ink spots show up on your mounting surface showing you exactly where to drill for mounting screws.
